A further 34 guys on the expanded roster after the HOU game will shortly be FREE AGENTS, although most of the practiced squadders and a few others will be shortly signed to the off-season roster.......

OG (1) - OTIS HUDSON. No reason to keep him
OT (3) - ANDRE SMITH/ DENNIS ROLAND/ DAN KNAPP. Smith resigns. Roland goes. Knapp on the expanded roster
RB (3) - BRIAN LEONARD/ CEDRIC PEERMAN/ BERNARD SCOTT. Peerman is the only one I would try to resign.
TE (2) - BRYCE DAVIS/ RICHARD QUINN. Bye bye to both, but one makes the expanded roster.
WR (4) - ANDREW HAWKINS (erfa)/ VIDAL HAZELTON/ JUSTIN HILTON/ BRANDON TATE. hawkins has o choice but to resign. The rest? No thanks, especially tate.
DT (1) - PAT SIMS. Resign
DE (4) - DEQUIN EVANS/ ROBERT GEATHERS/ WALLACE GILBERRY/ MICHAEL JOHNSON. Johnson will get tagged if no deal is in place. I'd like Gilberry back, but someone throws too much money at him for him to stay. Geathers might come back for a vet minimum contract.
LB (6) - THOMAS HOWARD/ MANNY LAWSON/ REY MAUALUGA/ VINNIE REY/ J.K.SCHAFFER/ DAN SKUTA. This is the sketchy one. Rey is restricted, so I see him back. We should keep one of the vets, but who knows which one. Skuta will get money from some other team, if not he resigns for a small deal.
S (3) - JEROMY MILES (erfa)/ NATE CLEME . NTS/ CHRIS CROCKER. Clements comes back only if he takes a huge paycut.
CB (2) - ADAM JONES/ TERRENCE NEWMAN. I would think both come back, but if Zimmer leaves.......
ST'S (4) - JOSH BROWN/ CLARK HARRIS/ KEVIN HUBER/ MIKE NUGENT. Huber might get tagged if no deal is reached and ASmith and MJ93 are resigned early. He is probably our MVP, but goes unnoticed. Josh Brown makes Nugent expendable, so whoever signs for a more team-friendly deal stays. My guess is Brown. harris should be resignable as well.
I also wouldn't be surprised if guys like LB Rod Muckleroy and TE Colin Cochart get another invite....... Maybe they do, but neither survives trainig camp.

Michael Johnson is going to command a lucrative contract on the FA market. Size, Length & Athleticism- Teams will be lining up to land the emerging edge rusher.
Pat Sims wasn't a focal point of the rotation and with young guys waiting in the wings- Odrick & Brandon Thompson- should be allowed to depart.
Adam Jones should be resigned. Due to his character issues, I doubt he has great value for other teams. He's found a home in Cincinnati and would be a distracting signing virtually anywhere else.
I fear the team will resign Maualuga, whose one of the worst MIKEs in the league. Marvin appears happy with him though.
Andre Smith Jr is a tricky situation. Worth considering the Franchise Tag for his services.
Unfortunately, the versatile Leonard will likely land elsewhere. _________________ I'd Select Ziggy Ansah 1st Overall |

I read somewhere that he ripped the Dolphins and their decisions over the last 5 seasons when he interviewed with them last off-season. I think I would be more surprised if he were given another interview this year instead of giving teams a couple years to forget about that interview. _________________

Our own free agents who I think will be re-signed:
Gradkowski
A. Smith
Peerman
Leonard
Hawkins
Gilberry
M. Johnson
Howard
Rey
Skuta
Miles
Crocker
Jones
Newman
Brown
Harris
Huber
I think Sims walks, as we have two young DT prospects waiting in the wings. Lawson was about useless this season, and Maualuga was exposed badly in the playoff game. I'm hoping the Bengals let those two walk. I would say we resign Geathers but I think I read somewhere that we save a good deal of cap space if he walks? Don't remember. I hope Gilberry is re-signed. He's solid.
I think Johnson gets a LT deal and Smith gets the franchise tag. |

Seen some stats someplace that show how effective Sims is against the run. When he's in there, opponents ypr gets below 4.0.
He may be our best pure run stuffer. _________________ " I imagine that in Paul McCartneys' house, he must have a shelf with the 12+ great 'Beatles' studio albums neatly stacked. At times, he must rock back in a chair, light a cigar and say to himself, '....not bad for a life's work......' " |
