The Browns have asked the Niners for permission to interview Tom Gamble for their GM post. Gamble being pursued by NYJ, Jax and SD also. |
Who knows if he'll take them seriously after we give roster control to the head coach, but at least they're looking at legit GM candidates. |

We have only asked permission. Hasn't been granted, nor has an interview been set up yet.
But one can easily speculate that by doing this, they believe they have their HC in the bag and that he or his agent have signed off on Gamble. |

This is what I ment. I wonder if Chip has agreed in principle and is good with tom gable. That's a nice front office. _________________ 2013 First Ballot Recipient of the Joe Blackburn Award |

We're not going to get a candidate of his caliber for GM. Remember when we installed Mangini first and that scared off Heckert (and all other real GM candidates) and we ended up with Kokinis? We didn't get Heckert until he was promised final say over the roster. _________________

Totally different situation, because of Haslam and Banner.
I don't think we have a real shot, but I would not be shocked if these guys go out and get exactly who they want regardless of the cost. |

We can only hope. It's a winning combination on paper, that's for sure. |

Yeah, it's jumping the gun a bit, but it makes sense.
Chip Kelly's agent (at least the agency) also represents pretty much the Niners' entire coaching staff. So he clearly has very close contacts within the Niners' organization. David Dunn could easily have set this up.
Anyway.... I'm clearly speculating, but it does fit together. _________________ Cleveland Browns: We put the fun in dysfunction.

Given the news that Banner spent time with Kelly's agent yesterday, the same day that word came out about the Browns asking permission to interview Gamble, it does all fit together nicely.

Better get on it if they're interested. Jets are interested and he's interviewing with the Chargers tomorrow. _________________
