If we do infact land Chip Kelly I think you could all but eliminate FB as a need. There is no FB on his depth chart then I looked at the roster and he doesn't have a single FB on the roster either. When he does feel the need for a lead blocker he has put Colt Lyerla his TE in the backfield. Even when he is in the backfield it is typically not for lead blocking.
Brad Smelley was used at Alabama like Chip uses Colt Lyerla and I believe it would be a good fit for both.

Very possibly true. But has Kelly ever used a power runner like trent as his main back?
