Howie is a boy in a mans job. He will tank this team. We won't make the play-offs for the next 4-5 years.

Based on what?
Of coarse Lurie is going to protect him.
He was the GM that brought in this mess we have accumulated over the last 2 years.
You can't hang your hat on the draft because the jury is so far out.
All he has done is negotiate some contracts with some nice escape clauses.

I don't know how Roseman truly operates.
If I said he'll be great, I'd be a homer.

Why would Lurie "protect" him?
Since he's firing Reid its a perfect time for him to clear house with any other personnel who aren't up to task or who have been underperforming. No real reason to lie to the general public/fan base about why Howie was hired and what his track record was.

He protected him in his interview. He talked him up like he was the big thing. Howie got just as much power as Andy 2 years ago. He brought in a fair amount of those free agents and Lurie absolved him of everything.
