To keep thing cleaned up in other Threads I think it be Good Idea to have a Thread just for Coaches that will be interviewing for Jobs in Arizona.

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter

Arizona and Chicago have asked for and received permission to interview Broncos OC Mike McCoy for their HC job. Will interview this weekend.

Confirmed Interviewees:
Bruce Arians, Offensive Coordinator Indianapolis Colts
Darrell Bevell, Offensive Coordinator Seattle Seahawks
Jay Gruden, Offensive Coordinator Cincinnati Bengals
Todd Haley, Offensive Coordinator Pittsburgh Steelers
Ray Horton, Defensive Coordinator Arizona Cardinals

Let's try not to open seperate, individual threads every time an interviewee is announced ok everyone? The forum will be overrun with overlap topics. Let's just put them all right here in the one convenient spot that Boise&cards Fan has provided for us.

Thanks guys,
Stchamp98

People rag on Whis for only having success with a HOF QB, What about McCoy?

Bottom Line with everything Head Coach, Ray Horton is not going to be here unless it is as the Head Coach. Considering he satisfies Rooney Rule, if team were set on Horton as Head Coach would not be considering other candidates.

McCoy was able to be competitive with Tebow at QB. That alone is impressive.

Keim must already have been told that he is GM, because it is the GMs job to get a head coach. You don't get a head coach, than a GM.

Agreed. I think if we were set on Horton, it would be a done deal already.

Would it be smarter to hire a GM before a HC?

I dont know how it works really

I don't know about that though - Mike B. is a lawyer and he knows what going through the full due-diligence of a hiring process means. You gotta go through all of the interviews even if there's a strong internal candidate - you could be selling yourself short if you don't.

Nah. What if a team is set on Horton but he's not set on them (Which could be our scenario)? You'd damned well better have a backup plan in that case. Same thing the Rams did last year with Horton. Satisify the Rooney Rule and then when he blew them away, boom, they've got a backup plan they're comfortable in if Fisher chose Miami instead of them.

You can't have 1 guy and only 1 guy in mind. You'll get burned.

Oh I agree, and it could be that exact scenario, but bottom line is, if FO was sold on Horton he would have been offered the job already.

I still don't agree. I think being sold on a guy and thinking he's the only guy for the job (Which is what an immediate offer would suggest to me) are 2 different things.

What are the terms of the Rooney rule? Is it just that you have to have a minority interview or do you have to have someone else interview besides one guy? Could just be something but it could be Horton is weighing out option like you both point out.
