It could very well be true, but I have my doubts with how Emery works if Jason Cole knows anything.
If Lovie is back why has Phil Emery not come out and said it yet? |
Why on earth would he is the better question?...you do that you distract everyone from tomorrow’s game and take away some of the importance for the players and coaches...
That said I don’t buy that Cole knows much…he doesn’t really state any kind of source let alone someone with inside knowledge. |
Or you Un-distract than from worrying about their coaches job and their jobs.
Sometimes added pressure is not a good thing. Guys play tight and to on edge to perform well.
I agree Cole sources nothing and it seems like he is reporting other people's speculation. |
I would rather they went into the game too tight than too relaxed...
If Cole is right it is a relief IMO...still don't see 10 better HCs in football than Lovie. |
Mike Tomlin
John Harbaugh
Bill Belichek
Gary Kubiak
Mike McCarthy
Mike Shannahan
Tom Coughlin
Jim Harbaugh
Jeff Fisher
Sean Payton
Mike Smith
Marvin Lewis and John Fox are both similar to Lovie.
And despite his struggles Andy Ried should be mentioned. |
2012 Leslie Frazier is fringe Top 10 as well. _________________

Extend him for a decade and time travel to 1950 when you didn't have an offense and dominate.
I jest of course. _________________

I think Emery needs to sit down with him and discuss a few things before signing Lovie to an extension…the big one IMO is Lovie having full control over his staff…I think Emery has to get some of that power back…not so much as telling Lovie he will be making the decisions on staffing but having more of a say in who is hired than just signing off on Lovie’s decision…if I’m Emery I trust in Lovie’s coaching ability & man management 100%...I don’t however trust in his ability to hire the right people in the right places…that is a decision that I would want to be 50/50…both have to feel comfortable with that because Emery would be tying his future to Lovie and if Lovie can’t get the right people in place under him then Emery has to take a bigger say in it…if Lovie agrees with that change then I would feel good about resigning him to an extension this offseason…if not Emery has to put his mark on the franchise and walk away from extension talks…it’s unorthodox to let an HC go out of contract but it would be the best move if Lovie doesn’t agree to this structure…then we could revisit it next season. |

I think thats fair. I was just wondering that assuming we keep Lovie I think having him as a lame duck could cause issues. _________________

I think it'd be less of an issue for Lovie than other coaches because he clearly has the respect of the locker room. He's been half way out the door before and his players have never quit on him. _________________

The offense has been absolutely atrocious. There's been a clown car of OC's under Lovie's watch. There are absolutely no indicators out there that this is going to change. This is a scoring league. The team has only gone to the playoffs in 5 of the last 6 seasons. They've been destroyed by the Packers in recent years (yet again). The *only* reason that Lovie would come back would be a financial decision. The *ONLY* reason.
9 seasons. 3 Playoff years. 3 playoff wins. |
