With Mike Francessa's accusations that current Defensive Coordinator Mike Pettine has been Manish Mehta's unnamed source, it makes it seem inevitable that he will not be back next season. Here are some of the top candidates to replace him:

I'd like it to be Thurman or Dunbar, our defence is good and those two positions are greatly coached so I see no need to go out of house for this one. _________________

We should be alright picking someone internally. Thurman would be fine. _________________

I think it would Thurman. Hes worked with Rex for a while, Rex would still have a strong influence there and they have chemistry. _________________

I would want to go internally, preferably with Dunbar. I love what Dunbar has done with our defensive line. _________________ Adopt a Jet: Aaron "Mayhem" Maybin

Thurman because I want Dunbar's focus to be on our line. They are still young and need developing, our CBs are pretty much veterans. Not to mention Thurman has been with the Jets longer/with Ryan even longer.
But we should promote from within, there are going to be a lot of changes this offseason, might as well have some stability _________________

I agree. Thurman seems pretty well respected too. _________________

| If internally which it probably would be Thurman, else I would hope for Rob Ryan assuming in a move of idiocy Dallas cuts him loose |

To be honest, I just want someone who doesn't mind rex making the defensive calls. Rex has to run the defense, otherwise why did we hire him? The great coordinators who become HCs still call plays on their respective side of the ball. _________________

I don't want any defensive coach from the Saints. _________________

| Honestly I'd make it Thurman and promote Dunbar to assistant head coach because Dunbar's track record speaks for itself, he will get a coordinator job elsewhere unless we pay up. Both are phenomenal coaches as we've seen with their players' performance this year. My main goal right now is to make sure Matt Cavanaugh can go coach the QBs for the Patriots. Maybe he can ruin Brady. |
