Here is the current draft order:
Depending on the outcome of this week's games, we can finish with a pick as early as the 8th pick or as late as the 15th pick.
In order to finish with pick 8, we obviously need to lose. In addition to Buffalo, we would also need to jump six other teams. These teams which we would need to win are the:
- Cleveland Browns (@ Pittsburgh)
- Tennessee Titans (vs. Jacksonville)
- Arizona Cardinals (@ San Francisco)
- San Diego Chargers (vs. Oakland)
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers (@ Atlanta)
If all of these outcomes occur, we would enter a six way tie for pick 6 with the Bills, Browns, Titans, Cardinals, Panthers. It is impossible for us to pass the Browns or Bills due to their SOS. It is impossible for the Panthers or Cardinals to draft ahead of us if they finish with the same record. This means that we would be competing with the Titans and Bucs (if they lose) for pick 8. In order to win the SOS tiebreaker against those teams we would need the following teams to win:
- Chiefs (@ Denver)
- Colts (vs. Texans)
- Eagles (@ Giants)
- Rams (@ Seahawks) OR Vikings (vs. Packers)*
*The Rams or Vikings only need to win in the event that the Buccaneers lose to the Falcons.
Obviously, a lot of these outcomes are pretty unlikely. If the favorites win in every game, we would end up with the 10th pick. _________________

| I think the fact this thread doesn't have a name will ensure a Jets victory. |

It's hard to root for them to lose, and although I want us to get the best draft pick available now, I see myself screaming at the TV wanting us to win. _________________

As a player or coach you never ever want to lose. They could care less about draft picks because they dont know who is coming in... and even if they are good- they're a rookie.
BUT- as a fan: We cant make playoffs and we arent worried about people losing their jobs- infact we're all kinda hoping certain heads rolls. So in this case- I really dont see how rooting to lose (AS A FAN) is a big deal. Its smarter for the long term.
For those of you who "never root to lose" in this case i dont see why. Winning this final "garbage game" gets us nothing but a worse draft pick.
The higher the draft pick doesnt necessarily mean more success in the future, but at worst it gives us a better position/more leaverage if we want to trade down. |

As a fan you live vicariously through your team. If I was a member of that team I'd want to win. Therefore, as a fan, I want to win. It's a pride thing. Take pride in your team. I understand you want them to lose for "what's best for the team" but what's best for the team right now is to win.
A lot of these players will be here next year, wouldn't it be great for them to go into an off-season with the mentaility of "we can make this work, we can win" rather than "we need a new team"?
There just seems to be a big difference from 6-10 and 7-9. I'd rather be on the 7-9 side of that. _________________

I'm rooting for certain players to play well. Pretty much just want to see young guys on defense do well. Maybe Powell get a ton of carries see what he can do alone. _________________

PLease stop with that @#$! nobody jumped ship. We just realize that winning would give us a significant worse pick in terms of value. If we lose, we probably end up with a top 10 that would net us more in a trade down. Everyone wants to the team to get better and rebuild. _________________
