Great post, Devin has always been a hot and cold guy. I think you just keep putting him back there and let him work through it. _________________

The going backwards stuff has to stop though, especially inside the 20. |

Exactly. Teams adjust. It's not like over the course of the next 2 season teams are gonna stop sticking to their assignment. They've noticed his return skills and they've adjusted to shut that down. So if he's not returning the ball like he used to and he's not a WR, what exactly is he doing? _________________ O-Line, O-Line! Come out, come out, where ever you are!

Bears fans can be so cynical sometimes. Players slump. That doesn't mean you just kick them off the team.
There are plenty of players slumping this year alone, do you think they should be released immediately:
Mason Crosby
LeSean McCoy
Darren McFadden
Demarco Murray
Cam Newton
Kyle Rudolph
Mike Wallace
The list goes on and on. |

We have seen this before with returners where physically and mentally they just go over the cliff.
Devin does not have the speed to do what he once did in the returns.
But mentally he continues to try and do what he use to do he just can't.
It is a grinding position and I think it ground Devin out. _________________

Has Hester had many solid return opportunities this year:no. Has he been awful even in the lack of said opportunities AND in being the #3 WR: yes. I don't really know what is so hard about it when looking at Hester's returns, catch the ball, get upfield, and make a cut or two, but get going forward. He is typically much more prone to have a good return when he does so. Others have said so, and I agree, the ONLY way he should stay is if he restructures. He is being paid WAY too much to be awful. _________________ Here's to hoping Emery is NOTHING like Angelo. |

Hester ruins a lot of good opportunities while kicks/punts. He physically can't do it anymore to the ability he thinks he can.
He also is making comments to the media which I don't like.
I think we need to release him. |
