If you're like me, you don't think this team is going to make the playoffs. The most likely scenario is Indy and Pittsburgh getting in there. But hear me out, lets say the Jets win three in a row to finish.
Scenario 1:
Cincinatti beats Pittsburgh
Giants beat Baltimore
Indy beats Chiefs (clinch 5 seed)
Jets beat San Diego
If this happens, with a win in week 17, the hapless Jets make the playoffs, with a Baltimore win over Cincy.
Scenario 2:
Week 16:
Pittsburgh beats Cincy
Indy beats KC
Jets win
Week 17:
Cleveland beats Pittsburgh
Jets win
Jets are in as the 6 seed again.
Here's where it's interesting
Scenario 3:
Week 16:
Cincy beats Pittsburgh
Giants beat Baltimore
KC beats Indy
Jets win
Week 17:
Houston beats Indy
Baltimore beats Cincy
Pittsburgh beats Cleveland
Jets win
Jets become the 5 seed and the Colts are the 6
Let's say that the Bengals beat the Ravens that week. The Jets would be the 6 seed with the breaker over the Colts.
Say then that the Steelers beat Cincy, Indy loses out, the Steelers, Jets, and Colts are tied. The Jets are the 5 seed and the Steelers become the 6.
The reason why the Jets win all these tie breakers is because of conference win percentage. Most of these teams go 6-6, while the Jets would be 7-5.
So as you can see there are many situations for the Jets to get in. At this point though, the only thing that can help is win. |

Our best bet relies on cinch to beat Pittsburgh, then to lose to Baltimore. I don't see pit losing to Cleveland or Indy losing to kc.
The Dallas win was huge for us. Granted we still need to win out and need help. _________________

I agree. But the Colts are bad in away games, so anything could happen. hopefully the Texans will play hard in the last game for home field . They are only one game above Denver. _________________

All of this is irrelevant if we don't win tonight.
I'd rather win tonight, then focus on San Diego. Talk about playoff scenarios week 17 when we travel to Buffalo. |

We arent the team, we dont have to "focus" on one team for a week. We get to have the luxury of stepping back and looking at the big picture to figure out what needs to happen to make the playoffs so we know what to root for. _________________

How about that. Everything the jets needed to happen for the jets to make the playoffs happened so far, except of course, the jets winning. If the bengals lose next week this stretch of awful play will sting that much more. _________________
