Quick, plain, and unenthusiastic. You went out of your way to welcome me, but clearly took no pleasure in it. Clearly you feel a sense of responsibility in welcoming newcomers, but hold no specific sense of welcome for me. I do not like you, but I respect you.
An exclamation mark! Perhaps you read what I had to say, and are excited about what I might offer. On the other hand, your excitement is not couples with any kind of feedback; why not? You aren't actually excited to see me, you are just pretending to be friendly. You sir, are a fake. I do not like you, nor do I respect you.
Ah, the "welcome" that has been put to question. A capitalized W indicates a general acceptance of grammar rules, but the period has been ominously left out. The sentence is not finished. Something will follow this welcome, but what? Creepy is the least of it. It is a threat; a hidden message of terrorism. Please! Leave me be, I just want to talk about Jermichael Finley.
Even more brief than the initial example. This "welcome" is quiet and quick to be brought to a finish. "welcome. now let's get posting" It is contrite, but not obtrusive. "welcome. yadda yadda yadda, you're now part of the community." Thank you, oh venerable poster, I do feel welcome. I feel good about this situation. |
i missed this earlier, but this is spot-on. It's how I felt about it as well. |

| Hey, I'm from Nova Scotia and I've been a fan for about 8 years now. I've been following these boards for a while and figured I'd finally sign up and try and contribute a bit and learn some more about football. |

I'm John, 23, from NJ. Born in Canada and moved here when I was real young. The CFL sucks so my Dad grew up on Bart Starr and raised me on Brett Favre. I think I might be a bigger Aaron Rodgers fan though. I work in sales and am a part time college student.
My favorite Packers all-time are Reggie White, Robert Brooks, LeRoy Butler, Brett Favre, William Henderson (he jumped up at the tunnel and gave me his game hat after a win in Buffalo in like '01)
Favorite current Packers: Clay Matthews, Aaron Rodgers, Nick Collins (he retweeted me once it was cool hah), Charles Woodson, Jordy Nelson

I am Tony, age 30, grew up in Green Bay.
I played FB in HS. Played center most of my life. Started for my HS team in two consecutive state championships. Never attempted to play college ball but I wish I would have. 6' 250 pound centers were not in high demand. I feel I missed my calling as a Fullback.

I didn't know this thread existed!
I'm James, 20 years old, and I currently live in London, Ontario, Canada. Just finished my last exam of my 1st year undergrad at the University of Western Ontario (school where the Chargers Vaughn Martin comes from).
I do not, nor have I ever played a down of competitive football, but I am an avid fan, and have been a Green Bay fan for about 4 years now.
Used to play tennis competitively at an international level, so I switched over to watching football after I quit.
Figured I'd post in this since I plan on being here for a while.

Oh and when Mike McCarthy was the QB coach for Kansas City Chiefs for like two or three years he was my next door neighbor. Used to hang out with all the parents at our parties and I remember him always drinking a beer. He threw a couple parties at the Chiefs indoor field and invited the neighborhood which was fun. |

My name is Eric and I hail from central Wisconsin. I'll be a freshman at Northwestern University this fall (in ten days, actually) and will be majoring in philosophy while taking the pre-med route. My eyes are set on medical school with a hopeful focus in neurology and possibly neurosurgery.
Outside of my obvious love for the Green Bay Packers, I'm a big history fan, a devoted Manchester United follower, a Milwaukee Bucks fan (unfortunately) and I enjoy reading history material and writing in general. Football's Future provides an outlet for two of those passions: the Packers and writing. The information and understanding I've garnered from this website, namely from Palmy and CWood21, is invaluable.
My Packer experience started in 2000 when the Packers played host to the Arizona Cardinals. I don't remember many details from the game besides the final score of 29-3. That was the first game I was a witness to and it'll be embedded in my Packer code until the day I die. The next several years consisted of Sundays spent on the couch eating Subway, watching FOX and falling in love with Ahman Green's style of play while conversely maintaining a growing disdain toward Mike Sherman. The first real game I recall vividly was the opening week of the 2001 season with Ahman Green thrashing the Detroit Lions in a 28-6 victory that saw him take a sweep 80 yards for the score. That play, too, is embedded in my memory as the first real action I recall. From the 37-0 shutout of the Washington Redskins following the tragedy we all know and wish to not recall, to Favre's comeback win over the Jaguars and the season-ending win over the Giants, 2001 marks the first season in which I truly followed the Packers.
Through the next several seasons which saw the incredible pick-six against Seattle, Favre's miraculous rally following his father's death and the infamous 4th and 26, my love grew exponentially. It was the pain and suffering experienced in those years that made my passion for the franchise stronger. It all came to fruition in 2010, of course, and I will always be thankful for that day - a day I recall from the minute I woke up to the minute I went to sleep.
A few of my favorite Packer memories include the following:
1. Ahman Green's 80 yard touchdown sweep against the Lions (week one, 2001).
2. Shutout against Washington following 9-11 (week two, 2001).
3. Favre's miraculous week 16 performance against Oakland.
4. Minnesota losing on a last second throw to vault Green Bay, a winner over Denver in which Ahman Green had a 98 yard scamper, into the playoffs.
5. Al Harris' pick-six (playoffs, 2003).
6. 4th and 26 (playoffs, 2004).
7. NFC Championship loss to New York.
8. Rodgers' first start, and win, over Minnesota.
9. Rodgers' season-ending win over Detroit.
10. The most epic game I can recall: a 51-45 loss to Arizona.
11. The entire Super Bowl season.
12. [Added late] Bad blood victory over the Vikings that saw several fights following the game [2003, 2004 I believe?]
Aside from those select few memories, pretty much everything over the last decade rings a bell. It's pretty fun to note that Green Bay won a title on my 10 year anniversary of being a fan.
Here's a rundown of every game I've been to:
1. 2001, week 10, 23-20 loss to the Atlanta Falcons [LeRoy Butler's last game as a Packer].
2. 2003, week 12, 20-10 win over the San Francisco 49ers.
3. 2004, week 15, 28-25 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars [Favre threw an absolutely ridiculous interception from three yards out].
4. 2007, week 11, 31-17 win over the Carolina Panthers [NFL record age combination of starting quarterbacks; Testervarde and Favre].
5. 2010, week 16, 45-17 win over the New York Giants [sat next to a guy who threw a beer at Hakeem Nicks and hit him; also the beginning of the 19 game winning streak].
9. 2011, divisional playoffs, 37-20 loss to the New York Giants [I can't discuss this one].
A few more lists:
Favorite Players: Ahman Green, Darren "There Ain't Nobody" Sharper, Al Harris, William Henderson, Bubba Franks, Mike McKenzie, Greg Jennings, Nick Collins, Aaron Rodgers, Tony Fisher, Ray Nitschke, and Antonio Freeman.
Favorite non-Packers: Kevin Durant, Lionel Messi, Taylor Twellman, Wayne Rooney, and Ray Lewis.
Favorite Movies: Shawshank Redemption, Dark Knight(s), Ferris Buehler's Day Off (spelling), Good Will Hunting, Step Brothers, Gran Torino, Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers collection, Schindler's List, Forrest Gump and The Silence of the Lambs.
Favorite Music: Motley Crue, AC/DC, Def Leppard, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Buckcherry, Black Stone Cherry, Theory of a Deadman, KISS, Poison, and Guns n' Roses.
Favorite non-Packer Teams: New England Revolution, Manchester United, USMNT and the Milwaukee Brewers.
If you ever want to chat or introduce yourself, feel free to PM me! It's been and will continue to be a pleasure around here. I'm glad I came across this forum and will hope to contribute more over the foreseeable future! _________________

Hello all, long time reader of the boards but I decided to be more social and sign up for an account.
Name: Dan. I am 27 years old, I currently live in Columbus Ohio. I worked for a local Fortune 500 Company in Management until this August. That company is Worthington Cylinders, we have a branch in Chilton Wisconsin and I had the pleasure of being in Wisconsin several times for work. I have yet to attend a game in Wisconsin but have seen the Packers play several times, including in Cincinnatti, Cleveland, Pittsburg, Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, and a few others.
I have been unable to find work since I was forced to resign my position at WC (it's tough here in Ohio). So I am going back to school next summer at THEE Ohio State University studying Economics.
