I think it depends on who we target in the draft. If we get another pass rusher (like Dion Jordan ) then we'll probably let him go. _________________

I think Scruggs has played very well for a rookie. He has a couple sacks yeah? Jones hasn't contributed much. It's a shame. Was hoping he'd be much more of a force this season _________________

I can't recall who it was but someone posted that he's playing around 270 right now, and that he usually weighs around 290. Maybe that has something to do with his play? I was hoping he would have a bigger impact this season. |

I heard somewhere that a majority of Irvin's sacks have come during stunts with Jones... I hope it's just a scheme thing and nothing will change, but if it's a chemistry thing with Jones, this could mean the snaps Irvin sees will be much less fruitful than they've been.
Especially if Branch ends up being out too - I heard he hasn't practiced this week.
This blows unless Justin Smith ends up out too - in which case, advantage Seattle, even without either guy. SF looks like a different defense without J. Smith. _________________

I disagree with everyone I think Irvin gets the start over Scruggs and I think he will dominate the niners oline. He has over 10 sacks as a back up d lineman he deserves the start. _________________

You want Irvin to start at DT? _________________

I think Scruggs and Jones are comparable. If Jones is a 6.5, Scruggs is a 6.0.
Not as bad of a loss as I hoped it would be when we signed him. _________________

I think this loss hurts us a lot. Jones wasn't a huge contributor as an every down player, but he will really be missed in the depth he provides. Getting the interior guys like Mebane, Branch, etc. rest so they can stay fresh is an underrated part of any defenses success. A big part of the reason the 49ers gutted us in the run game the last time we played was because the D wore out. Take Jones out of the rotation and possibly Branch as well and we lose some of the backbone of this D. _________________ “They were threatened by my intelligence and too stupid to know that’s why they hated me.”
