Keep it the same. Why let 16 teams in? You would probably get a bunch of 7-9, 6-10 teams in that don't belong. _________________

Agreed. This is one place where the NFL has it down as right as they can. Maybe some seeding issues, or issues with bad division winners taking a spot from a better team in a division that has been won by someone else 2008 Pats come to mind) but net/net, it's better than any other league.
Don't try to fix what ain't broke. |
This. That is the reason why the NHL and NBA seasons are meaningless. You also lose the appeal to weeks 15-17 when everyone with marginal talent makes the playoffs. | Why not just do away with the playoffs and have the team with the best regular season record the champions then? _________________

I get it's about money. It's just crappy matchups. That 7-9 Seahawk team should've never hosted a wild card game. That's the result we'll get. You shouldn't be awarded for mediocrity. _________________

That 7-9 Seahawks team beat the team everyone thought had an easy game.... _________________

If they do this, football all of a sudden got much, much more boring.
I love the format we have right now. _________________

The format we have right now is excellent and I would not consider changing a single thing about it. _________________ Geno Smith, Tavon Austin, Stedman Bailey, and Bruce Irvin will all have at least 1 pro bowl season each by the end of the decade.

Bad idea. The way it's setup currently is working. It's going to make the last 3 weeks this year very interesting. _________________

hahaha. Man you guys need to cut it out. The football season will still be interesting and the last four weeks of the season will still be interesting. Teams will still try to win division, try to get home playoff games and all that. We will still sit down every Sunday and watch and enjoy every minute of it.
I dont see the big deal. Right now this means Skins and Cowboys would be in but you have 4 teams still trying to catch them. Just like right now you have 4 or 5 teams trying to catch Bears and Seahawks. I dont really see the difference would be. |

I don't like this idea, but I'm sure the owners who brainstormed it up love it. The playoffs already have a .500 or sub .500 team in more frequently than ever, and are even set up so a losing division winner can host a superior wild card team.
They'll get way too diluted by this. Then again, it'll make the league money, so...... |

Yeah but the point was the Saints shouldn't have had to travel to Seattle to play a 7-9 team. _________________

I'd prefer to keep it where it is at, that said, if they want to expand it I have no huge issue with it. It is like the 16 to 18 game season and peoples arguments that there would be less meaningful games. When that really wouldn't have been the case with many teams having clinched anything with 3-4 weeks to go. Teams are still going to be jockeying for position. Adding in 4 extra teams (total) this year wouldn't mean that the Texans have nothing to play for, they still need to win out to guarantee themselves of the top seed. They haven't even won their division yet for that matter. Yes, I don't really want to see the Jets in the playoffs, that seems kind of silly, but it wouldn't make for that terrible a product as people are claiming, otherwise no one would watch the regular season when you have match-ups like the Vikings against the 49er's. Very lousy match-up on paper, turned out to be a good game, but it was a bad team against a very good team. _________________ Gnat's Movie Reviews

If the only change would be to have a 6 vs 7 play in game in each conference, I wouldn't be upset.
Only question would be when to play that game? _________________
