Quote:
The team announced Wednesday that Kolb (ribs) was placed on season-ending injured reserve. Kolb showed flashes of promise in six outings this year (five starts), helping the Cardinals get off to a 4-2 record. The Cardinals thought he would be able to return this season, but he recently experienced a setback in his recovery.

Quote:
Kolb hasn't been able to stay healthy since the Cardinals signed him to a massive contract after trading picks and cornerback Dominique-Rodgers Cromartie to the Philadelphia Eagles for Kolb in 2011. Kolb is due $11 million next season, including a $2 million roster bonus in March.

There's no way the Cardinals will pay him that salary. He will very likely looking for a job in free agency for the first time. His coach Ken Whisenhunt might be on the market too.

Any suitors for Kolb? I think it's very likely he'll have to accept a backup job, although I could see him being an upgrade for a few teams, in particular Buffalo. I would say Kansas City and Jacksonville too but I assume one or both of those teams will be drafting QBs high this year. The Jets could also be looking for a QB but I don't know if they'll give up on Sanchez yet.

there is a good chance that kolb will be released. but it is far from likely. It depends on what our new head coach thinks of him, because Whisenhunt is most likely gone in a few weeks.

we were actually winning some games with Kolb behind center, but he gets hurt every couple weeks, and he misses a lot of time with his injuries.

he missed 8 games last year and almost 11 this year. so he has been injured more than he has been healthy. so yeah, as a team, we probably should move on without him...but it is 50/50 at this point, or maybe 60/40.

A "good chance" that he is released seems very close to "likely" actually.

Will the Cards really pay him that bonus, let alone that salary?

I could see him coming into New York to compete for the starting job. I'm not sold on him by any means, but he may be an improvement over Sanchez.

He had no line for the games he started and got utterly obliterated back there. He wasn't playing terribly before he got injured, the potential is still there. Someone will take a shot on him.

Never ever trade for a backup QB from the Eagles. You will always lose.

Yup - netted Boyken and Curry. Neither have done much yet, but their impact is yet to be seen.

there are too many unknown variables at the moment for me to say that Kolb will "likely" be cut. When I hear the term likely, I think the odds are closer to 80% or 90%, not a 50/50 shot, which at this point, is basically what the Kolb thing is.

for instance, nobody knows who will be coaching the Cardinals next year. It could be Whisenhnt(unlikely), Ray Horton, or somebody else. And whoever the new coach is, will be making the decision on Kolb. Also, there has been talk about offering Kolb a reduced contract in the off-season. and if he accepts that new offer, I don't see any reason why he would get cut. He has not been a locker room cancer from what I understand, so it's not like having him around on a reduced salary is out of the question either.

it all depends on how those contract re-negotiations go. If kolb agrees to play for less, I think he stays, if he doesnt he will be gone. But then again, it depends on who is running this team in a few months.

If Peyton would have gone to the Cards, he seriously would be dead right now.

Feel bad for him, playing behind that line and all. People say he is impatient and skittish back there- I would be too if I had a bout 1.5 seconds to get rid of the ball. No wonder he is always hurt.

Its not that he is always hurt. Its that it takes him longer than normal to heal.
