Northcutt put so much work in though. |
He dropped that pass in the playoff vs the Steelers. he should be erassed from Browns history for that alone.
McCutheon (spelling) the original 33 is not getting near enough love in this. I would love to have him on this team. |
Agree about 33. Kinda forgot about KJ, he would be great in this offense. Hmmm when I make my list I will have to consider him at QB, Northcutt too. |

The problem I have with guys like McCutcheon and Bodden is that I think that our pass defense was so awful with them on the team that they weren't exposed as much as they could have been.
Had Sheldon Brown been playing for us for a couple more years I don't think it would be close. |

In way too many instances it is hard to find a guy that I like at a position. In other cases, such as Couch, I think if he had played with some of the guys on this list he would have been much better and proabbaly stayed much healthier.
In keeping with that theme, I am also choosing some guys that had they stayed healthy I think would be our best at those positions ie Courtney Brown. Looking at this roster below I think it would be a really good team. I think a lot of the depth on this team would come from players currently on our roster such as Winn, Hughes and Greco as we have a much deeper roster then in the the past and I would take some guys from today's team over some previous starters.
As an aside while I like Mack a lot had Bentley not had that tragic injury/infection I believe he would have been the starting center on this team.

i didn't make a list but i'm gonna throw out some critiques:
- Northcutt doesn't belong on any lists other than things I want to forget
- if we're gonna list Bodden as a CB then E Wright when he was good (2007-8?) should also be included
- Ward at SS easily but Sean Jones would be a close second at that position. he had plenty of timely INTs for us.
- Andra Davis is a close second behind DQ
- Heiden deserves a backup role. he was consistent for us.
- Kenard Lang for president, Ted Washington for vice president _________________

Offensive Locks ::
Trent Richardson
Josh Gordon
Joe Thomas
Alex Mack
Guys you could easily argue for ::
Brandon Weeden considering his compitition is DA and Couch
Mitchell Schwartz or Ryan Tucker
Greg Little will become better than Edwards here soon.
Defensive Locks ::
Phil Taylor
Ahtyba Rubin
Joe Thomas
D'Qwell Jackson
T.J. Ward
Could easily make the case ::
Jabaal Sheard
I beleive a lot of our depth guys currently on the roster are actually better than most of the starters we have had since 1999. | Joe Thomas is awesome but I'm not sure he's worthy of a lock on the defensive side He did play DE in college though and has a very good build for a 3-4 DE, would be interesting to see him line up there in the pros _________________

I'm still trying to figure out why richardson is getting so much love. I like him and I think he runs hard, but his production does not warrant consideration. _________________ You show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser

also I found this gem on Northcutt's wikipedia
"According to football Outsiders, Northcutt's 2002 season is the most efficient season, play-for-play, of any wide receiver from 1991-2011, even though Northcutt caught a relatively modest 51 catches"
Really want to know how they figured that |

I'm guessing saying it was efficient then a lot of those catches had to be for 1st downs or touchdowns. I would also imagine no drops.
Who knows I also saw an artical that uses stats to prove Kameron Wimbley was far and away the best 34 OLB his rookie season. _________________

I do specifically remembering not only did Wimbley get the sack numbers that year but he was a constant terror off the edge, it wasn't flukey. Even his second season he was getting a lot of pressures. After that...eh...turned it up again for the Raiders though.
I consider Wimbley a pretty easy lock for this team too. |
