Why? because everyone else is doing it.
1. Bjoern Werner, DE
Big playmaking DE who will fit right in on our defensive line. Like Suh, he was a kid who grew up playing soccer but outgrew the sport. He has a big time motor and he's athletic enough to move around and maybe stand up on some snaps.
2. T.J. McDonald, S
Big time safety prospect, but imo, is a safer pick than Elam. Elam is a personal foul waiting to happen. McDonald plays better within the game. If Delmas could stay healthy for a season, I'd love to see what they could do on the field together.
3. Desmond Trufant, CB
He'll fall IMO and will be right around the end of the 2nd/early 3rd. He's a bigger CB, 6', and has the ability to turn his friggin' head, which is more than I can say for the rest of our secondary.
2013 Lions defense:
DE- Cliff Avril/Ronnell Lewis
DT- Ndamukong Suh
DT- Nick Fairley/Sammie Lee Hill
DE- Bjoern Werner/Willie Young
LB- Justin Durant/Tahir Whitehead
LB- Stephen Tulloch/Travis lewis
LB- DeAndre Levy
CB- Chris Houston/Jonte Green
SS- T.J. McDonald
FS- Louis Delmas/John Wendling
CB- Desmond Trufant/Bill Bentley |

Elam is a personal foul waiting to happen, but TJ "aka 15 yard penalty" McDonald isn't a personal foul waiting to happen?
Not bad overall, don't necessarily love it though. _________________

| Franchise tag. Not pretty.... I think he walks after next season, but with KVB and CW leaving our DL, Lions will be desperate to keep Avril for at least another season. |

I think they're more likely to use the tag on Delmas
Like the 1st and 3rd pick but like several safeties over McDonald. _________________

Especially since you plan on retaining Houston. _________________

I don't know the numbers, nor do I care. When I watch Elam, I see a lot of late hits, high hits and hits long after the whistle, jumping on piles, etc that will be called at this level, especially if he's a Lion. He might get away with it in college, but he won't in the pros. |

Not sure what you are getting at with the #'s point, but McDonald currently gets a bunch of flags for personal fouls and has even been suspended for it. Regardless of Elam (or anyone else), McDonald is (also) a personal foul waiting to happen. _________________
