| When the rest of the O-line is that terrible... why focus on Mathis if you're a DT? You can bypass the only serviceable one in Mathis and attack any of the other linemen. |

PFF's overall grading system is generally (and rightfully so) considered pretty awful. However their stats, while not necessarily spot on accurate, can provide some relevant insight.
Mathis is a good lineman who works best in a ZBS. I don't know that I agree with him being the best in the NFL, though. In a sort of interesting twist, his flaws may have been masked by how bad the rest of the line has been most of the year.
