They would be foolish not too. _________________

If the GM is still around, I dont think management is looking to spend another early pick on QB. I'm not saying they may not try and get another option, but using an early pick in the process is not something I see them willing to do. _________________

I don't see anything special in Tyler Wilson. He took a major step back this year, but I suppose that could be attributed to the chaos that is Arkansas football right now.
He'll likely be a senior bowl player, so he'll have a chance to prove me wrong. _________________

I like Tyler Wilson a lot. I would love it if he was still there in the 2nd with us having a chance at him! I think Rick would jump at the opportunity and considering already he has chemistry with our 2 Arkansas WR's, he would be a great fit.

You have to remember that he lost his head coach and leader. That team was doomed from day 1 once that happened. They are playing in the SEC, you can't succeed without a great coach, which he was.
A similar example is the Saints... They have had a rough year and the team isn't winning like it's use to.. Does that mean that Drew Brees isn't a great QB? - Absolutely not. You can't blame the QB for everything. Play-calling changes, especially for a college QB. I think these 2 teams this year with what happened have a lot of similarities... _________________

Personally, I think Zac Dysert is the best QB in this class. I've watched a couple of his games this year and have came away very impressed; he looks so much better than his stats indicate. He just has a very poor supporting cast at Miami (OH) but he seems to kind of have that Matt Ryan effect of making everyone around him better -- which is what I look for in a QB.
He also has excelent height -- legit 6'4, an above average arm that can make all the thros, and he is extremely intelligent -- three year starter who calls alot of his own plays and consistently makes smart audibles at the line. If we are looking to draft a 2nd-3rd round QB to challenge Ponder then Zac Dysert is my first choice. |

Interesting...
Quote: | How does the 2013 QB class stack up to the 2012 class?
McShay: It's early in the process and there's still a lot of tape that needs to be watched. A year ago at this time, I didn't think much of Ryan Tannehill. Come April 1, I really liked him as a top-10 pick.
There's no one right now who I'd sit at a table and fight for, but I still haven't done all the tape. Last year at this time, I mentioned that I liked Tannehill's potential more than I liked Matt Barkley's. And I still believe that's the truth. That's not to say Barkley's a horrible quarterback, and I think it's highly likely he's a first-round draft pick. I think the same of Geno Smith, and there are obvious weaknesses in their games right now.
For both of them, it comes down to finding the right fit and making a decision based on how high the potential is for what that team does. I think Barkley will only be successful in a West Coast offense where you can limit the amount of down-the-field throws, and his vertical accuracy isn't that good.
With Smith, I think he's still developing as a quarterback. He's a smart kid, he works unbelievably hard and he has all the intangibles you're looking for, but a little bit like Christian Ponder, he didn't always transfer that information on the field. Ponder would often lock in on his initial read, and I think there's a lot of the same questions about Smith. |

I've read that unless someone higher gets desperate for a QB just to take a QB, the highest any of them are projected to go is 15-20, which is right in our wheelhouse. Thoughts? _________________

I feel the same way. Dysert has a lot of tools to work with but has no support on that offense. Has the size, arm, touch and accuracy. Needs to work on footwork and pocket presence though. I expect him to come off the board at the top or middle of round 2. I think the Top 5 QBs come off of the board like this:
1. Tyler Wilson-Top 5
2. Geno Smith-Top 15
3. Matt Barkley-Late 1st
4. Zac Dysert-Early to Mid Second
5. Tahj Boyd-Mid Second _________________

Not a chance. There are simply too many QB needy teams and not enough veteran options. KC, OAK, ARI, BUF, and NYJ all need QBs and are projected Top 15 picks. Plus there are very few elite prospects this year, might as well get your QB. _________________

That's where the taking a QB just to take a QB comes in for those teams.
Regardless, I'd rather hold off. 2014 is a MUCH better QB class. _________________

Waaay ahead of schedule, but I got my eye on 2015. Wittek, Mariota, Hundley and Hogan potentially make for a very strong class. _________________

As long as we get Dorial Green-Beckham in 2014 I'm good with whatever QB. _________________

From what I've heard he's been rather underwhelming so far. _________________

At this point in our rebuilding process, and at our likely position around the middle of the round, I think the most logical way to go is to draft BPA.
In the 1st, thats likely someone like Chance Warmack. _________________
