I believe we close the season on a high note and everyone is kept. As much as I don't believe in Shurmur I think he stays too.
With Heckart staying he will find a way to add more picks. I see him adding 1 or even 2 starters on the defensive side of the ball to get them over the hump and then will continue attacking the depth of the team in the draft. He loves having lots of picks and adding lots of youth to the team to create compition.
Re-Sign ::
Phil Dawson 3 Years
Ben Watson 2 Years
Christian Yount 2 years
Tender ::
Jordan Norwood
Emmanuel Stephens
Sign ::
Keenan Lewis :: #1 priority IMO. A young corner who is getting better who will make a great #2 and will not break the bank.
Glover Quin :: Another signing from a winning organization. We need those guys to show our young team what it takes to win.
Draft ::
-Heckart works his magic again and trades down in the 3rd for another 4th. He then trades down again to just outside the 3rd to aquire another 5th
1(7). Dion Jordan DE Oregon 6'7 234
-Big time athlete who does a lot of different things at Oregon. The Browns bring him in and strip all that away and put his hand in the dirt then say go get the QB. With nothing else for Jordan to worry about perfecting and or stopping the run he is going to be a terror off the edge. A defensive coordinator would be smart to build on his pass rushing in year 2.
4(100). Brian Winters OL Kent State 6'5 310
-A big powerful lineman who plays tackle now but projects to guard in the pros. Browns bring him in hoping he can back up Joe Thomas at LT in a pinch and both guard spots then hopefully start at guard.
4(101). Sio Moore WLB Connecticut 6'2 229
-A fantastic athlete who blitzes well and defends the pass even better. He will be in line to compete as a rookie.
4(120). Sanders Commings CB Georgia 6'2 216
-A huge physical corner who will be brough in for depth. He will be tried at corner first and then saftey for depth.
5(137). Robbie Rouse RB Fresno State 5'7 190
-Quick, yet deceptively powerful little runner who can be a drastic change of pace from Richardson and Hardesty.
5(142). Nick Kasa TE Colorado 6'6 260
-Another athletic speciman who has only been a TE for 1 year and 1 game in a pinch last season. He has great speed and blocking ability. Possibly a starter down the line.
6(178). Ryan Allen PT Louisiana Tech 6'2 215
-A punter who will be better than Hodges from day 1.
7. Uzoma Nwachukwu WR Texas A&M 6'0 194
-A project WR with NFL talent
7. Darius Slay CB Mississippi State 6'1 190(PS)
-Another big physical corner as the Browns are looking for someone to body up with the big body WRs in the NFL.
QB Brandon Weedem/Colt McCoy/Thaddeus Lewis
RB Trent Richardson/Montario Hardesty/Robbie Rouse
FB Brad Smelley
WR Josh Gordon/Travis Benjamin/Josh Cooper
WR Greg Little/Jordan Norwood/Uzoma Nwachukwu
TE Ben Watson/Jordan Cameron/Nick Kasa
LT Joe Thomas
LG John Greco/Jason Pinkston
OC Alex Mack
RG Shawn Lauvao/Brian Winters
RT Mitchell Schwartz/Ryan Miller
LE Jabaal Sheard/Emmanuel Stephens
DT Phil Taylor/John Hughes/Ishmaa'ily Kitchen
DT Ahtyba Rubin/Billy Winn
RE Frostee Rucker/Dion Jordan
WB Craig Robertson/Sio Moore
MB D'Qwell Jackson/L.J. Fort
SB Chris Gocong/James-Michael Johnson
CB Joe Haden/Dimitri Patterson/Johnson Bademosi
CB Keenan Lewis/Buster Skrine/Trevin Wade
FS Glover Quin/Usama Young/Sanders Commings
SS T.J. Ward/Tashaun Gipson
PK Phil Dawson
PT Ryan Allen
LS Christian Yount
Training Camp Battles
-Greco, Lauvao, Pinkston and Winters will all compete for the 2 starting spots.
-Craig Robertson, Sio Moore and James-Michael Johnson compete to start at WILL. _________________

I'm actually really feeling this draft I dont know if we end up with that many picks, but I do like the idea of building depth in this draft. There isnt alot of top talent at all, but in the middle rounds this year it could do good to continue to bring in talent at positions all across the board. _________________

Like your two free agents. I think Dion would fill Parkers place year one than eventually become a full time starter. Winters I touted in conversation with the cattleman. I think Winters will become a good left guard. The rest you just hope there are a few a late round Rubins or Winns in there. Getting more picks help the chances of that happening. The punter is a nice selection. _________________ browns and indian fan 7272

I like this mock quite a bit. I love the idea of using Jordan in year 1 the way the 49ers used Aldon Smith (pass rush specialist on passing downs). I also love the Winters pick. I got to see him in their last game and he is a mauler with a mean streak, which is exactly what Trent Richardson needs
I'm not familiar with a lot of the later round guys as I havent' got into draft mode quite yet, but I like the positions you addressed. FA was very realistic and both are good options. |

Keep the coaching staff... Im good with that.
resigns... sure, why not.
Two Free agents DBs.... okay.
However, if the Browns only come away from this draft with only a rotational DE, a Punter, and a bunch of camp fodder I will puke! _________________

I think Jordan could become a well rounded DE. He needs to add some bulk, but he could be very good.
We don't have a 2nd so that hurts.
I'd be surprised if we traded down that much, because now that we have fewer holes, I don't see that many rookies making the team again.
Other than that I like it. _________________

True
Though I don't necessarily know if that's a bad thing.
We have seen what a huge problem it was with just missing Joe. I know he is special, but we need guys who can keep us above water if he is out again.
Skrine is ehhh at best. Wade, i still have hopes for. Who knows about the rest of them. _________________

You had me up until the draft. I can't say that I like a single pick or justify drafting for depth. Your free agents are great realistic signings. We need impact players. _________________

Why we don't always see eye to eye....I see our drafts are earily similar this season....
Agreed on pick 1 Player, Position and Usage...
and agreed on the position for our #2 pick...gotta get that G
We agree on the position for our next pick OLB...(I will look this kid up...you usually have a line on some talent I missed)
We agree on the position for our next pick CB...and may I comment I love Sanders Cummings...he was project in my first Mock draft and I almost want to take over Porter in the 4th of my draft and then take a LB later...
We both grab a 5th round RB next.....I like Dyer over Rouse...but JUST found out about Rouse.....researching....
We both agreed that a 3rd TE is a need
and we both grabbed Punter Ryan Allen out of LaTech.....
I think the Brown need to hire you as the GM and then you bring me in as Asst. GM/Director of College Scouting _________________ -A team is built through the Draft.

For those of you guys complaining about my idea of drafting depth I say to you...DEAL WITH IT. I'm not just saying that because its my mock I am saying it because you are going to have to come to terms with it because that is all we are getting this year. It is a fact of reality.
Daylon McCutcheon
Marquis Smith
Travis Prentice
JaJuan Dawson
James Jackson
Melvin Fowler
Chris Crocker
Charlie Frye
Travis Wilson
Colt McCoy
Shawn Lauvao
John Hughes
Every single 3rd rounder since our return has been a depth quality player. Some of those got to start down the road but none proved to be a quality starter. Daylon McCutcheon was decent but on a good team should have been a nickle or dime.
And to those who think it is unrealistic to have so many picks I only added 2 picks. We already have the extra 7th rounder from Philladelphia for Sims. I also used trade models from the past drafts and both ranges I had us trade happen every single year. _________________

I will also add that we don't need a ton of starters especially adding a CB and FS in free agency. It is going to be nice to get to the point where we can sit an entire rookie class and let them develope much like Pittsburgh, Baltimore, San Francisco and New England do a lot. _________________

| Dion Jordan really intrigues me...he has that size and athleticism from being a TE that you cant really teach....id like to see him just rush the passer and see how successful he is without ever having to play coverage like he does at Oregon |

FA= Pretty Good
Draft not so much. Over drafting a 3rd down specialist in the 1st and then trading down out the 3rd when the need is quality not quantity.
You can do better than this. _________________ The Dawgpounds new three headed monster!

Yeah drafting a 3rd down specialist sure was a terrible move for San Francisco
You're the only one who doesn't like Jordan. He's not the stat machine you like to pimp. You are so predictably boring over hyping your favorites as if they are football gods and putting down any other player as if they are scrubs.
I was getting very annoyed with you constant Chandler Jones is a LDE and not worth a 1st rounder garbage last season. You were wrong as usual. Do me a favor and just don't comment on my mocks and I'll be sure not to even look at yours. I'm sure the next 100 will have 4-6 of the same players as your last 100 anyway. _________________
