Greg Childs is scheduled to come off of the PUP sometime in the next 3 weeks. What can we expect from him this season? Will he make the 53 or go to IR? Is there any room for him?

Watching Childs' recovery process I believe he can come back from his injury. However, Minnesota is having enough trouble trying to get the current receivers on the field. It will be interesting to see how the team handles him.

I would probably put him on injured reserve. MN really doesnt have room for a 6th WR, and I dont think any of the current receivers should be cut for Childs at this time.

Of course, injuries could change things in the next few weeks, potentially.

I'm really pulling for this kid. I follow him on Twitter and all he post are workout and motivation tweets. The hard work is paying off:

I thought Patterson was a big dude.

Haven't heard any stories about him recently. With bishop going on IR with the ACL tear does that open spot now belong to Childs?

I expect to see a bunch of stories roll out after this week because I think next Tuesday is his first day eligible for return from the pup list.

Actually, I believe he was eligible as of today. They have 3 weeks from now to decide whether to sign him to the 53 or put him on IR.

At this point, I say he goes to IR. We barely have room to get our first round pick on the field. I do think he will make it back from his injuries though, two years recovery wouldn't be the worst option for him.

I've had this, thought, recently about Greg Childs. Would it be possible for him to add a little more bulk, up 10-15 pounds to around 230 and play that joker tight end role?

A little more bulk in his legs could help protect the ligaments in his knee. I would imagine that with his speed, and leaping ability, he would be an excellent backside, pass catcher, joker tight end.

Not sure how that type of player would work in this offense....depending on coaches brought in who knows...

plus its hard to say about Childs ...he has been out of football for awhile...he has had to lost some speed....bulking up could make him a matchup problem for sure against lb's and safeties

I posted it in another thread, but they have until the 19th before he has to start practicing. From there have 3 weeks to decide to put him on 53 or IR him.

Yes, after tearing both of his patellar tendons on the last play of the 2012 Training Camp scrimmage, receiver Greg Childs is going to practice with the team starting on Wednesday.

What a great story. Hopefully he can somehow make an impact this season.
