After week 13 (minus tonights game) here is the current playoff picture for the NFC:
1. Atlanta 11-1 (clinched division)
2. San Fran 8-3
3. Green Bay 8-4
4. NYG 7-4
5. Chicago 8-4
6. Seattle 7-5
In the hunt:
7. Cowboys 6-6
8. Minnisota 6-6
9. Tampa Bay 6-6
10. St. Louis 5-6
11. Washington 5-6
Currently the Bears and Seattle have to WC's and If they where to tie it up in the standings with Dallas, they both have the head to head tie breakers.
Here are the remaining schedules for the other teams looking for a playoff berth.
Giants: Washington, Saints, Atlanta, Baltimore, Philadelphia
Washington: Giants, Baltimore, Browns, Philadelphia, Dallas
Seattle: Arizona, Bills, San Fran, Rams
Chicago: Minnisota, Green Bay, Arizona, Detroit
Minnisota: Chicago, Rams, Texans, Green Bay
Tampa Bay: Eagles, Saints, Rams, Atlanta
Looking at this:
-Chicago and Seattle have 3 division games remaining
-Tampa has 2 division games remaining
- Giants have 4 very tough games 3 of which are on the road
We do have a chance at the WC, but, we have a much better shot at the Division, if we continue winning (and that is a big if).

Winning the division seems more probable, but I doubt it will happen. _________________

Anything can happen, that's the great thing about the NFL.
I'm not saying we will, and am not expecting it. However, we've seen what this team is capable of doing when things go their way. _________________

A Giants loss tonight would boost my hopes for the playoffs a ton,I don't think this team is ready for the playoffs but anything can happen if we get there. _________________

Plain and simple, if we win out and the Giants drop 1 more game, assuming they lose tonight, then we win the division. If that is not incentive enough to fire this team up and play great for 4 more games, then you have your answer as to what type of team we have in Big D. |

Me, personally, I would say that we are a playoff team. Why? You might ask.
First and foremost, only 2 games this season have been lost with a spread of over 7 points (Seahawks wk 2 20pts and Bears wk 4 16pts). The rest have been 7 points or less. That means we are hanging in there till the end
Second, we are doing this with all the injuries we have had. This reminds me of when the Packers made their SB title run a few years ago. They where beaten up and had a crap load of players on IR. They hung in there, got the WC and got hot at the right time.
Third, we are getting a few key players back from injury who can help this team out. Murray brings back a run game which was nonexistant. Which keeps some pressure off of Romo and can help out that Air game. Lissemore has missed most the season, his return will help out our Dline. If Ratliff can get back on the field, will add to the pass rush and a solid run stopper.
Fourth, Dez is coming into his own right now. We are watching a boy grow into a man. His play alone is going to open up this offense to new limits.
We are just a Dez fingertip away from being tied with NYG for the Division Lead at 7-6 instead of 6-6.
a Missed late Field Goal from Bailey against the Ravens would have won that game. Could have been 8-5
a 2 bad breaks in those two games and this conversation would be entirely different.
Sure, we have made some boneheaded stupid plays and have some boneheaded morons on the squad (cough Free cough). But, every team has that problem every now and then (ours just seem to be more often than others).
I always want the playoffs regardless! Even if we are not a playoff caliber team, I always want to make it there and have that chance. Look at Arizona a few years ago. Total crap team making it to the big game. _________________ "Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyways" - John Wayne |

Kids, feel free to agonize over what if's with this:

I recommend that the first time you do it you make it a cold picks. Don't look at the bottom. Don't pick what you want. Pick with your head cold and calculated to see how it ends up. Then have fun with it. _________________

I don't think we have a shot, now. I had hope till this last game, but we're just too depleted.
The defense up the middle was just horrific yesterday. The ILB And S play was the worst I have ever seen in an NFL game. No pursuit whatsoever. Can't count the number of times Ware or spencer slowed brown up in the backfield only to have him escape them and not get touched agains for 10-15 yards.
The offense found its feet with Murray back, but the defense will not stop anyone and that's going to make for a very long row to hoe. |

the redskins did just win...we are now only a game behind the Giants. (so are the skins). The division is still possible. I dont think this team is going to win it. But its a feasible possibility right now. The giants have a really tough schedule left. |

Looking at the scenarios and such, I will retract my statement. I will now say, if we find a way to get into the playoffs we will have deserved it. I will then say I do not think we have the talent on this team to win a playoff game due to injuries and the lack of talent on the offensive line. _________________

That's what I got.
I have us losing at home to Pittsburgh.
I have the Redskins losing to Baltimore, @ Cleveland and against us.
I have the Giants losing vs New Orleans and @ Baltimore.
We get in over the Giants at 9-7 due to better division record (4-2 vs 3-3) _________________

Our Oline is terrible. Our D is not at the level it was. Special Teams are mediocre at best. First thing I think is playoffs. I don't think we win another game this year. |
