not sure where else to put this, but in the Romo thread in NFL gen some Patriots fan came in and did the usual "Romo sucks" thing and I just wanted to post my response.

Well I'm sure glad that you know everything and have watched every single game Romo has played. Oh wait, you don't and you haven't so don't go around claiming things you have no evidence for.
| Quote: | | You guys have Witten, Austin, Bryant... plenty of weapons. Ben, Eli, Ryan, Stafford, and Rivers all can put up similar numbers to Romo. |
None of those guys except for Ben and maybe Eli have the kind of escapeability and/or ability to extend the play that Romo does.
Ryan, Stafford, Rivers etc. would get DESTROYED behind this offensive line, it's not even funny. Romo is probably the best QB in the NFL at creating something when nothing is there. Sometimes that'll lead to a pick, or a negative play.
But that's also what has had us among the top 11 offenses in the league (#3 in 2007 and #2 in 2009) for every season that Romo has been around except 2008 when we were 13th.
So Witten, Austin, Bryant don't matter if you can't sit in the pocket and throw it to them, something that is the biggest strength of all those aforementioned QB's.
Besides, you act like Romo is the only QB with any weapons.
- Ryan has Gonzalez/White/Jones
- Rivers has had LT/Gates/Jackson
- Stafford has Megaton
- Brady has Gronk/Welker/Hernandez
- Peyton had Wayne/Clark/Harrison/James
- Brees has Colston/Graham
- Rodgers has Jennings/Nelson/Driver
- Eli has Nicks/Cruz/Shockey
Are we going to count off for them, too since every QB can all put up similar numbers with those guys?
| Quote: | | And just a little anecdote about how unclutch Romo is, I went to UMass. When I was there everyone I hung out with, including girls & guys that barely watched football would say "Romooooo" anytime someone messed up in real life. |
Nobody cares about what your friends did who (you just said it) didn't even watch football. Wouldn't that just be more in my argument that since they don't watch football, they would know little about it, therefore them saying "Romo" when something goes wrong would just be them being ignorant and incapable of having their own opinion?
Yes, we get it that people are jealous of Tony Romo and his $$$, fame and dating of celebrities. We get it. He's the QB of the biggest and most popular team in the NFL, he's going to have his haters. I'm used to it.
He's also the franchises all time leader in passing touchdowns, 300 yard games, 3 TD passing games and he actually has the franchises lowest career interception % at 2.8.
Oh he's also a 3x Pro Bowler, and has the FOURTH HIGHEST QB RATING OF ALL TIME, and is FOURTH ALL TIME IN YARDS PER ATTEMPT.
So you keep your silly jokes and uninformed opinions. Be glad that you get to have Brady for a few more years and enjoy that. I'll be happy with my consistent top 10 franchise QB in this league and one of the best players that this great, historic franchise has ever had. |

you keep giving game balls to Romo... Should you not be giving them to Bryant. Looks like all those amazing stats are coming from one WR....
Also - I am waiting for the part where you give him his due and start to cheer for him like a sane Cowboys fan. _________________

Ok so you want me to give a GB to Dez instead of Romo when Romo's the one putting up with an incompetent OL and threading needles to get the ball to him and all Dez has to do is get separation and catch the ball? Maybe it's just me and my background but I find it more impressive what Romo's doing than Dez. Was that 1 handed grab falling out of bounds incredible? Absolutely - was his catch and run through 6 defenders amazing? absolutely - but him making 5 or 6 plays a game vs. Romo making 25 or 30 doesn't match up to me. _________________

So no one besides the QB can ever win the game ball. Got it. _________________
