Quote: |
Six first-year eligible candidates, five non-players and two special teamers are notable among the list of 27 semifinalists announced today as candidates for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2013. |
Quote: | The list of 27 will be reduced to 15 modern-era finalists in January, by another mail ballot from the 44 selectors. Two senior nominees announced in August -- defensive tackle Curley Culp and linebacker Dave Robinson -- will complete the roster of 17 finalists, from which the Class of 2013 will be selected Saturday, February 3 in New Orleans, the day before the Super Bowl. |
So odds these men with ties to the Cowboys make it in?
If you were on the Committee - who would your top 15 be? _________________

Still ticked Harvey Martin hasn't even made it as a semifinalist...
Larry Allen is definitely first ballot. _________________

5. Bill Parcells, coach -- 1983-2006, Giants, Patriots, Jets, Cowboys.
6. Kevin Greene, LB/DE -- 1985-1997, Rams, Steelers, Panthers, 49ers.
7. Charles Haley, DE/LB -- 1986-1996, 49ers, Cowboys.
8. Cris Carter, WR -- 1987-2002, Eagles, Vikings, Dolphins.
9. Steve Atwater, S -- 1989-99, Broncos, Jets.
10. Paul Tagliabue, commissioner, 1989-2006, NFL.
11. Andre Reed, WR -- 1985-200, Bills, Redskins.
12. Warren Sapp, DT -- 1995-2007, Buccaneers, Raiders.

I hope Parcells does NOT make it in yet. I just don't think he is one of the best coaches of all time. _________________

Allen is a first ballot lock. I never thought I would see a guard as good as John Hannah but Allen was, if not better.
I would like to see Allen and Strahan go in together. I seem to recall Strahan saying nothing made him happier than when Allen was moved to guard. It would be nice to see too old foes go into the Hall with each other. _________________ Northland

I would say that Allen understood what finishing a block meant. Good lord! _________________ Northland

I found it really challenging not to include Coach Coryell in my final 15. What other 10 players do you think makes it to the finals? _________________

Not sure, I was just doing my list of who will be inducted. Coryell transcended the game itself. If he does not make it,no one should make it. He is probably the most deserving on the list. _________________

While I don't disagree (we have Coryell to thank in large part to our glory years in the 90's). I think he is a HOF coach. And I think he will be inducted one day. I just think people will continue to hold the lack of a Championship against him. _________________
