We are so stacked its insane. I'm not going to single one player out as our best, but I will say this I think we have a ton of pro-bowl players on this team and multiple all-pros. The lack of respect Aldon gets around the league is just baffling to me, if he doesn't get some recognition this season I'll be stunned. He should be a front runner for DPOY and should be a lock for the pro-bowl and an all-pro selection. _________________ saintsfan on the sig

Front runner for DPOY? Naw, he should be in the running but Watt is the clear leader at this point. _________________

| Yeah, it's still Pat. He's not a stats monster like in years past, but he does so-many things at the the highest levels of anyone in the league for his position... Including lead this team. |

Totally agree with this. Have you noticed how teams throw very few screens against us this year? The bears and the saints are two of the teams who throw the most screens in the league, and I don't remember them throwing them as much against us. The reason is simple: Patrick Willis is the best defender in the NFL at sniffing and baiting screen plays. Reacting is one thing. What Pat does is diagnosing screen plays. But he does not just run in their to blow the play off. He lets the play go, spies from a distance, and when the QB dumps the ball, he snipes quickly. Whereas a great defender would make it a non-play of zero yard, Pat is smart enough, and athletic enough to make it a play of negative yards. That's why he's the best. _________________

I think a better question may be, what is the best unit on this team?
O-line
Backs and Receivers
Qbs
D-Line
LBs
DBs

As of right now, it's the usual suspects: Willis, Bowman, J.Smith and Gore.
In the next 2-3 years CK, the Condor(already almost there), Iupati, Bowman and Culliver may reach that level.
I also think Anthony Davis may be making a push in the near future to join the list of top 3-5 players on the team. Remember, he just turned 23 in October. _________________

in order this season:
Patrick Willis
Justin Smith
Aldon Smith
Frank Gore
Anthony Davis(He's getting All-pro recognition)
Navarro Bowman
Mike Iuapati
Vernon Davis
CK7
Crabtree
Dashon Goldson
Donte Whitner
Yeah, we're insanely stacked. It's crazy that at every position we have guys playing at pro-bowl if not all pro level on defense. Just insane. _________________

Truthfully, Davis play has dipped just a bit and Staley's has improved big time. He is playing at a very high level. _________________
