Like most older pass rushers - on waivers probably not, on a cheap deal maybe. He is old though and won't be a long term contributor. _________________

He wasn't too old to have 18 sacks last year. _________________

I'd jump on that like a fumble in overtime. Cam Wake is 31 ...32 is not old On our defense where we have depth on the line and he can join the pressure instead of having to create it on his own. He should excel.
We would be able to re prioritize that position in the draft and focus elsewhere for 2 years.
If it can be done it's a no brainer. _________________

You have to realize what your getting with Babin. He is solely a pass rusher. He is a huge liability on running plays, He doesn't recognize misdirection plays well and screens fool him easily.
A double whammy this year with quarterbacks getting rid of the ball quicker and an outward appearance that his rush has slowed probably made his contract seem like a money pit to management.
I do like him but is the contract worth the money for a situational player? _________________

I was wondering about him last night so this is sort of ironic...
...I'd say no. This close to the end of the year, how much is any FA going to provide? He wouldn't even get many snaps. We're not taking Odrick off the field obviously and Vernon is more qualified with the coaches and should be getting every snap he can.
Ultimately, Babin is probably not a good option even as a stop-gap. He's an experience veteran but too often, it's moves that keep veterans like Jason Taylor and Joey Porter instead of developing young guys that really hurt.
Consider that. |
