#Eagles release DE Jason Babin and place WR DeSean Jackson on Injured Reserve

This is shocking... Any playoff teams need a Wide-9 DE

I thought we would cut him in the offseason. Time for Vinny Curry and Brandon Graham to get all the snaps!!

Yep, this is the only sense I could get out of this move. In a lost season, might as well evaluate for the future and give the young guys some snaps.

I wouldn't mind seeing Babin coming off the bench for the Rams, but that's nothing but a dream. Highly doubt it happens. He would be a good scheme fit though.

Interesting. I don't see the advantage of cutting him now but whatever.

Well, at least one of us ACTUALLY is. I thought Babin was good for you guys? Was this season that much of a mess for him?

No, Babin sucked this year. I was literally just joking around.

The Eagles take a $800k cap hit for this move, but free up $5M in cap space this year, $4M next year, and $6M each of the two years after that.

Only because of the Wide 9.

Possibly this offseason but a paycut is more likely IMO.

I wonder what his chances are of clearing waivers?

What good does cutting him in November do? Why not wait until January? Unless it's a respect thing such as "Hey, we're going to see what these other guys have, but instead of just making you sit on the bench until we cut you, we'll do it now so you can go elsewhere for the remainder of the season."
