For the most part, I don't allow myself to dislike players due to how their rookie year goes. _________________

If anything CSCubed has been a needle in a haystack for the Jaguars. He has been that one shiny thing in a big dull pile of nothing. I hope he continues to develop because the Jaguars need any hope they can get. _________________

Currently leads the league in percentage of catches going for 20+ yards at 40% of all catches. _________________

That TD versus the Colts shows why Gabbert needs to attack the middle of the field more. It's something Henne is doing a lot, and the Jags offense has looked better because of it. Henne is also willing to take more risks than Gabbert. _________________

Henne has more experience and i think with that is less of a fear for making mistakes and its working so far. _________________

Looking at Cecil's numbers and comparing them with other 2nd year WR's:
T- 7th in catches (36)
3rd in yards (747, behind Green and Julio)
1st in YPC (20.8)
3rd in YPG (68, behind Green and Julio)
T- 3rd in TD's (6)
T- 1st in catches of 20 + yards (14, tied with Green and Julio)
2nd in catches of 40 + yards (5, only behind Green who has 7)
Also take into account he's only been targeted 71 times and barely played the first 5 weeks of the season (82 snaps).
Not bad for a 4th round pick from Mount Union. _________________

3. Victor Cruz (2) - 0 yards
4. Larry Fitzgerald (2) - 780 yards
5. Steve Smith (3) - 151 yards
6. Rob Gronkowski (2) - 546 yards
7. Jimmy Graham (2) - 356 yards

9. Jordy Nelson (4) - 366 yards
10. Brandon Marshall (2) - 309 yards

17. A.J. Green (1) - 1,057
18. Nate Washington (7) - 624 yards
19. Stevie Johnson (3) - 102 yards
Blackmon is on pace for 444 yards right now. That would put him 11th on this list if we were to rank them based on rookie campaigns. Sure, a lot of these guys weren't top 5 picks, but who cares? They're still the best in the league and almost all of them took time to adjust to the NFL game. You draft players for how they will pan out over the course of a career, not how quickly they can put it together.
Maybe it's me, but I'd rather draft a Roddy White or Wes Welker in the top 5 than a Pierre Garçon. |
To update, Blackmon is 9th on this list as of right now. He is projected to get to 4th. He won't crack the top 3 unless he averages 89.4 yards per game for the last 5 weeks, and he could only take first if he averaged 101.8 yards per game for the last 5. _________________
