Hey guys,
can you give me some insight on how the FO of the Saints regards Chris Ivory?
He is destined to be a restricted FA next offseason and is an intriguing young running back for teams which are in the hunt for a potential former back-up turned star à la Michael Turner or to a lesser extent Reuben Droughns. That said, I hope the Broncos make a run at him as the draft does not offer much in terms of running back prospects along with the fact that other holes have to be filled first. All the other FA RBs are either too old or will command too much money.
So, what are his strengths and weaknesses and, given your team's history, how likely is it that the Saints keep him?
Thanks for you input and good luck on your late season playoff run! _________________

They'll likely keep him. Thomas is the most likely to go.
His biggest concern is his fumbling, but it seems like that's only a practice and TC problem so far, he's been fine in games.
His strengths are his size and his desire to just get north and south. _________________

Best running back on the team; coaching staff is hopefully starting to realize that. _________________

Your guess is as good as mine...
One minute he's not worth a spot on the active roster, the next he's the best back on the team, then the next he's just a backup.
In the end... I think they keep him, he'll likley come cheaper than Thomas. Alot of Saints fans won't want to hear this but Pierre Thomas might not be on this team next season. The log jam at the position and the Saints clear desire to have Ingram beciome the feature back likley means the Saints will explore Thomas's trade value in the offseason.
It really just depends on Ingrams progression in blitz pickup... that is the reason Thomas is still on this team. Yes he's a tough runner and great in the screen game but it's he's pass pro that forces the Saints to play him over Ingram more than not.
Ingram seems to be progressing and Thomas is the elder of the backs with the heftyest contract. _________________
