I think the franchise kind of missed an opportunity to create some team history by just tossing numbers around like that. Were still such a new team compared to the rest, I think we need to kind of create some franchise "heros" if you will. Retire 4, 51, 17, 89 eventually, maybe even 87 or 45? Let's do some work to recognize the guys who kept us relevant.[/code] |

Apparently Gano got Kasey's blessing before getting the number. Does this lift the curse? |

But why even ask and do it? Just get a new number. It's not like he's a relevant player. Really annoying. _________________

that's a lot of numbers for a franchise that is so young and honestly has not had much success of notable players.
i can get down with 4, 51, and 89. definitely not 87 or 45... maybe 17. though 17 already got used by legedu naanee. smh. _________________

Jake is a definate in my opinion. His prime was amazing for this team.
I know it's a lot of numbers but we need to create some history, make some Panther Legends. |

No they don't. You can't just retire every above average player in your team history. We'd have no numbers left if that was the case. So no to Muhsin, Delhomme (even though I loved him), and certainly not Hoover. To be honest, I'm iffy on Smith. I think we probably should just put his number on storage for a long time and then only allow a player who actually deserves it to don it if they want it (like, if we took an AJ Green-like receiver who is damn near guaranteed for success). Cowboys did this with #88. |

Smith is the only one that deserves his number to be retired. He's the best 89 to ever play the game. |
