Peterson's impact, stature, talent, etc. simply can't be quantified by numbers - even though that's what we're discussing in this thread. For that I find it difficult to compare him to anyone other than Bo Jack.
He's just a special runner who we'll be proud to say we watched play. Not someone who we'll statistically formulate arguments for being "the best ever."

he would have to average 280 yards a game the rest of the season.
I wonder if 2000 yards is possible for Peterson this season. He needs 764 yards to get to 2000. He would have to average about 153 yards per game to get to 2000. |

Good game today by AP. Can't say the same for Christian Ponder, the wide receivers, or the middle of the offensive line.

From Elias: Adrian Peterson, already the NFL's rushing leader coming in to this weekend, gained 210 yards on 21 carries in the Vikings' loss at Green Bay. Peterson has averaged 6.2 yards per carry this season. Only two players in NFL history finished a season as the league leader in rushing yards with a per-carry average as high as Peterson's current mark: Beattie Feathers in 1934 (8.4 yards) and Jim Brown in 1963 (6.4).
I would love to see him get 2000, but we all know him, unless he breaks that record he will not be satisfied. |

Nice find PPP (sorry didn't want to type out your whole name, even though this apology took more characters), even if he does hit 2000, that is normally the difficult to come back from, but having a higher average will mean less carries and hits which should hopefully help him in the long run.

And imagine what he could do if the team could threaten anybody passing the ball.
While certainly AD deserves 90% of the credit, let's not discount what Matt Kalil's impact has been on the running game.
