Spikes fan is way too much. It was an illegal play, but that doesn't mean it's fine worthy. Next we'll be fining players for jumping off sides. _________________

| All three deserved fines for stupid play, and Spikes' escalation was almost undoubtedly for repeated offenses. |

And the cheap shot that actually led to an injury was not fined... _________________ Shut up, NBT |

Count me in the "who cares" club.
The fines aren't a disincentive and it's not my money. This is another one of those things that I don't understand (why some fans get worked up over fines). |

So don't post in this thread...simple as that.
You literally made absolutely no contribution.
Some fans are interested in these types of things....nothing wrong with that at all. _________________

Oh right, like we're now supposed to believe that's your barrier for entry... |

I did literally make a contribution. Don't be so defensive.
I don't have a problem with fans finding such things interesting, I just don't get it.
I wasn't complaining about the presence of the thread. I was pointing out that these fines don't matter in any way, shape or form. Fines don't stop big or questionable hits and the amounts these guys do get docked is usually insignificant relative to their salary. Go to NFL General forum and you'll sometimes find huge 20+ page threads of people being enraged about fines as if it matters in some way. It doesn't affect the on-field product and it probably doesn't affect most of these guys' quality of living (with respect to their take home pay).
Frankly, the only reason the NFL makes such things public is probably to give the illusion that they care about regulating these things. If they actually wanted to cut down on hits like this, they'd suspend guys on the first instance on an increasingly harsh scale. |

Re: Spike play
I'm OK with a fine in lieu of a penalty. That said, I still don't think it was a fineable hit. I see it as incidental as a facemask. |
