Every university I apply tp wants my high school transcript. Why? What I did in high school should be irrelevant if I've been getting good grades in college unless I took college level or special classes in high school like computer aided design, engineering, etc.
This really annoys me, because my high school years were bad. I started out good as a freshman, had a 3.8 GPA, long depressing story short, I barely graduated with a 2.007 GPA ... I know I could write a letter with my application explaining my situation, but I can't help but think in the back of my mind I'll never get into a higher level university because of a few bad years during my youth. Why as a society do we weigh so much on what someone did in 4 years of their life, during the most complicated time for everyone. |
I was in a similar boat. Use the improvement to your advantage. When I got out of community college I had a 3.3 GPA or something, compared to my barely2.0 in high school. I wrote on my essay to them that things started clicking with me once I got into college, and how I've improved in so many ways since high school. Also mention how you want to continue improving at their university. They love to hear that.
For the most part, though, the high school transcript is just a formality. I barely remember if I even had to do it when I transferred into a 4-year. Acknowledge how you struggled in the past, but use your community college time to show them that's behind you. |

Transferring to University of Alabama next semester, pretty excited about it. I have to do a year of pre-requisites and then hopefully I get accepted into the Athletic Training program but to the guys above talking about having to send their high school transcripts, thats pretty strange. I've applied to quite a few 4 years out of community college and none of them required me to do that, University of Alabama didn't ask for my high school transcript OR my SATs _________________

lol
Purdue is a great school, but they've got to have one of the fugliest campuses I've ever seen. Pretty much in the middle of nowhere as well.
Still though. They really are a great school. If you're thinking engineering there aren't too many better choices. _________________
