He played over his head last year in the playoffs, but still, shows how bad that defense was. Slater, Edelman, Moore, Sergio... yikes. It's a miracle Brady/Wilfork/Spikes/Welker got us to the SB. _________________

A lot of credit goes to Belichick for his coaching last year. He got a ton out of a really underwhelming, under-talented and under-performing crop of talent. |

No, Belichick has clearly lost it. How these guys aren't performing like the Steel Curtain dynasty defense is just another example of how overrated Belichick is.
It just boggles the mind how people can be so stupid to actually believe that. _________________

"Lost it"? Belichick has never "had it". He only succeeded due to having Parcells' players on his squad according to last week's game thread
There are a number of things to criticize Belichick about - as is the case with any coach - but his defensive coaching prowess and understanding of defense is not one of them. D.LeBeau is just about the only guy who belongs in the same discussion as Belichick in terms of recent defensive minds and IMO LeBeau's success has had a lot to do with talent. Not that LeBeau isn't a brilliant coach, he is, but I think Belichick has gotten more out of less - all while being a head coach (whereas LeBeau's head coaching stint was a flop). |
