Great trade for the Blue Jays - if anyone doubted that Anthopoulos could continue to work magic, I hope they've second guessed themselves. Disappointed that the Jays had to give up Marisnick, but considering the return... |
No room really for Marisnick, and Amen to Anthopolous..
Is this trade official yet ?? |
You could make room if you wanted to, but I guess this answers my question about Rasmus' long-term future as a Blue Jay. Wasn't sure they would keep him, but I guess I have my answer. I suppose this also means that they highly value the speed that Gose brings.
Not official as far as I know, but I cannot see why it wouldn't be. |
I had Marisnick ahead of Gose, so maybe Marlins did as well and requested him. Whoever bats in 2 hole is gonna see pitches if Reyes gets on base, so look for a big year from Rasmus or Lawrie, whoever hits there..
I'm not 100% sure but AA has club control thru 2016 with Rasmus as well. I believe |

At the very least, the Jays will be a terror on the basepaths for teams. Between Reyes, Bonifacio, Gose, Lawrie, Rasmus, Rajai Davis, etc. there should be a number of manufactured runs. _________________

I'd put whoever plays at 2B personally, and if not Rasmus.
So much speed on this roster. _________________

reyes--SS
lawrie-3B
bats--RF
E5--1B/DH
lind- DH/1B-- we need a lefty bat in there to split up all the rightys... im really hoping we sign melky (unlikely) or trade for murphy from texas for us to
Buck-C-- JPA is gonna be traded for more pitching or a left fielder
rasmus-CF
who ever is playing LF---it will not be gose.. hes not ready yet ... the rays gave desmond jennings a couple thousand of minor league bats before he came up.. I think we ll do the same with gose..leave him in the minors to play
bonifacio- 2nd or izturis good obp sets the table for when the lineup turns over..
if we sign a left fielder or trade for one this team is gonna be really serious. Id love to sniff after brennan boesch--not sure the tigers would trade him but hed be nice... david murphy could be available... and in a dream world we go sign melky... SO MANY SWITCH HITTERS! |

Melky to TOR makes too much sense.
Then they just need a legit DH cuz Lind sucks hard. _________________

If we signed melky the line up would be just gross
reyes-switch
Melky-switch
bats
E5
Lind-DH
lawrie
Rasmus
Buck / Darnaud when he comes up in july
Bonifacio--switch
bench
izturis--switch, rajai, bobby wilson
with an absolutely stacked rotation...
the offseason just started.. anthopoulos has so much time to make more moves its incredible... Ive held season tickets for the last 6 years.. just renewed the day of this trade... ive never been so amped up for a baseball season.. the buzz in this city is incredible and its NOVEMBER |

I wouldn't call a rotation with that many question marks "stacked".
The Jays certainly have talent, but they're also adding players with huge risk factors. _________________

dont rain on my parade!! lol
its a damn good rotation regardless of questions... 2 power throwing righties with 1 soft tossing lefty (buehrle) and 2 other lefties (happ and ricky)
... every team has questions and for me to ignore the possible issues with johnson id be foolish...however he pitched very well in the second half last year looking like he was over his shoulder issues... i have faith in modern medicine... i think he ll be alright..its a calculated risk
having watched ricky ro his whole career.. I have no doubt he ll be back he is way too competitive an athlete, too talented and in the prime of his career..last year was an outlier he will bounce back, maybe not 2.92 era good of 2011 but a mid 3 era pitcher with a 1.20 whip.
brandon morrow made serious strides last year and looks like hes really turning a corner to be a very very good pitcher
buehrle wasnt brought in to completely shut down teams he was brought in to be the number 4 with a mid 4 era.. give us 200 innings and keep us in games...
JA happ is alright as a number 5.. I like his potential..he pitched well in stretches last year...
it was also reported we are still looking for starters I have no idea if thats via trade or free agency...
Go Blue Jays! |

Arencibia for Murphy makes sense for both teams, especially if we're moving Kinsler to LF.
We'd have to throw in a C level prospect but I'm down. _________________

Arencebia is younger and plays catcher. He has more value in a trade. _________________

Lol, where do I sign up?
Murphy is a solid player no doubt, but he's getting up there in age and he's in his last year of arbitration, while Arencibia is a 26 year old catcher with 20+ HR power and is making peanuts.
Idk why I'm like the only guy here who wants Arencibia, maybe it's because I caught a HR ball from him or the fact that he always destroys us.
But yeah, I'd do Murph for JP in a heartbeat. _________________

the reasons wed trade arencibia:
travis darnaud will be ready soon as his knee is better-- he grades out a bit better offensively than JPA and a lot better defensively
arencibia doesnt get on base 280 OBP from what I can remember.
we need a left fielder badly-- gose isnt ready yet rajai davis isnt a full time player.
the reasons wed take murphy:
hes only 30
he gets on base
from what ive seen of him he plays good defense.. havent looked up UZRs or anything,.. im too lazy
who knows whats gonna happen AA plays these things close to the chest, JPA may end up getting moved for a pitcher or to a different team entirely, this deal would make sense though. |
