A Pat cheating??? shocking

I hate the Pats as much as anyone, but come on.

I wonder if he will be as good when he comes back, assuming that he will be no longer taking the PEDs.
Sources say it's Adderall, the use of which seems to be pretty rampant in the NFL, considering how many have tested positive.

Could Adderall be used to cover up PED use?

It's a masking agent for steroids

No it definitely is not. Clearly you have no knowledge or prior use experience with either adderall or any kind of anabolic steroid.

Adderall is an ADD medication. To be blunt, you pop the pill, or conversely crush it up and snort it, and it will improve your focus drastically for a couple hours. Some players may be taking during games for that very reason. Though it isn't the best drug for in game use, I know a handful of collegiate athletes that have used for that very reason and preach its effectiveness. Most people that take it are students, however, and take it in times of study, when writing a paper, or taking an exam.

As far as its steroid masking properties..no. However, it is a cop out for players. When they are suspended for violating the PED policy, it is not always because they are taking anabolic steroids. Many medications, like adderall, that are not steroids are included in the policy. When said player is suspended, the NFL does not release the specific compound they tested positive for. Sometimes, it leaks(Cushing taking HCG for testicular atrophy), but more often than not there is no specifics, the NFL real ease a statement saying player 'A' violated the policy. Players can then blame the failed test on adderall, since it is generally seen in a less negative light than the big bad anabolic steroids. Which really shouldn't be illegal to begin with, much less against the rules of most major sports. Damn near every professional athlete takes or has taken them, and if done correctly, with the right knowledge of the compounds you are using, the right precautions, the proper tools and supportive compounds, they can be used just as safely as a protein shake. But that is a debate for another message board..

That's not to say that guys who get busted for Adderall are all hiding steroid use, but it's part of the reason that the NFL is so harsh on it.

What are you talking about?

Adderall is an Amphetamine, testing positive for Amphetamines does not hide Steroid use.
