Champ, regarding Eugene Monroe, Jags' fans are always bitching about their OL so I figured they'd need a Tackle. Good to know they won't be taking Joeckel! |
The Jaguars line is terrible but it's at guard (both spots) and center. Former UA Wildcat Eben Britton has been a disaster over there. Back problems haven't helped. If they were back a little further, Warmack would be right in play for em. |
Our line problems are everyone but Eugene Monroe...Uche has been hampered by injuries, Britton as mentioned has had a back injury since his rookie year and can't play RT, and recently lost his spot to UDFA Brewster (C at Ohio State), and Bradfield, our current RT hasn't been anything but average or below...Meester is still here since our first season...and well...is old and this is his last year...doesn't help we lost half the line in OTAs to season ending injuries, including 2011 3rd round pick William Rackley, who is said to be preparing to take over the Center position. |
So if JAX is selecting top 3 it's probably defense...? |
Rumor has it we are moving to the 34 this offseason.
Star is the pick at the moment with Knighton all but moving on (but he'd be a 5T so I guess it doesn't matter). The only other real potential is Corner/Pass Rusher...but doubt either are the pick...I wouldn't also rule out a trade down. |
Bolded: Interesting. Do you have a link for this? |
Outside of Shad wanting changes (coaching staff) and the like. On top of that, this is a draft where we can make the transition without giving up on too much. |
While true, this isn't what I'm asking, I'm asking if there's anything substantive to suggest this change could be made. |
Yeah, something came out last week (or two ago), lemme see if I can pull it up. _________________

Not bad, IMO. Concussions will knock him down. Arkansas's season has been in the tank, that won't help. _________________

I still don't see him dropping that far, still see him ending up in the middle part of the first round, or in the early 20's at the latest. Teams know how much hitting on a QB can elevate their play. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

I could live with him mid first or even second
Need to solve oline issues first so he doesn't get more concussions |

Concussions are getting a little overblown IMO... QB's 20 years ago were getting several concussions every season from their heads getting slammed on the concrete astro turf. A lot of times they weren't even diagnosed. Now days the NFL is very cautionary (and rightfully so) but sometimes I think we make a big deal of it. Obviously it's easy for someone like me to say this on the Internet and not actually out there playing.
If we really like Wilson and he checks out medically than I don't think we should pass on him because of concussions... _________________

The underlined portion is the reason the bolded portion isn't true. _________________

Every player is affected differently. If Tyler Wilson completely checks out medically do you still hold it against him? I'm not even a big Wilson fan but I don't really look at him as a lesser prospect because of two concussions (if the med staff ok's it)... _________________

Bolded: Yes. Both of his concussions caused him to miss games at the college level. Potentially missing games at the NFL level is obviously a knock against him. _________________

I doubt he'll make it to the 2nd. Buddy Nix (Bills GM) has said point blank that Buffalo will draft a franchise QB before he leaves the organization.

Since becoming our GM, Nix has followed through on every single one of his pre-draft hints/declarations - hasn't tried to hide anything. My thinking is that if the Bills pick later than #10, we'll grab Wilson. Here's another link...

Reply #34 mentions the Bills interest in Wilson. Is any of this true? Who knows, but I'd bank on Buddy going after a QB very early. I'd be OK with Wilson as the Bills 1st round pick, but I think Te'o fills an even greater need. I don't expect the Bills to get a shot at him though due to the Cards and Bengals need for a starting ILB and at this point, given the Bills soft remaining schedule, I think we'll be picking too late to get Manti. _________________

You could be right. Usually in that area, with QBs, you're looking at a team getting back up into the 1st round. I wouldn't be surprised to see that go down.

| I'm now leaning more towards Jake Mattthews (if he comes out) as opposed to Taylor Lewan because Matthews I think is more of s "sure thing." Lewan might have more upside though |

Really, Barkley is just having a poor season. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's
