^^ umm... the verticals listed for those... err... "mountains"... are 2-300 feet.
that's it? what's that take to get down, ten seconds?
i've lived in western Montana for a few centuries now and the verticals there are greater than 2000 foot drops. _________________

| I can't speak to other places, but mt lacrosse has a 516 vertical, and the hills take between 12 and 45 seconds to get down. Most of the race course run about a minute. I've been to Montana a few times, and I would pay good money to be able to ski runs like that all the time. |

Growing up in Minnesota, I cross country skied a lot. I did some down hill skiing a few times in the Sierra Nevada Mountains when i was in Cali. I do get a kick out of some of the ski hills around here in MN. Takes like less than ten seconds to get to the bottom. |

...and if you're REALLY nice to the local Yeti, they'll give you piggy-back rides to the tops of the mountains! _________________ "No one can disguise mediocrity better than Bill Belichick." |

Hey guys, I've mostly been lurking the forums for the past year or so but I finally decided to make an account.
Hopefully I can contribute to some discussions and not rage too much at how terrible the Vikings have been lately! |

When you live in that kind of country, you wear Telemark boots, and spend all day CLIMBING up the peaks for that single 2000-4000 foot downhill run. Only then can you really appreciate how nice a downhill run is. Oh yes, also, you have to be a LOT better skier than most Downhillers, as you have much longer and much skinnier skis, and you are wearing a 50 -75 lb full backpack, which will require you to keep perfect balance all the way down, or you'll fall back on your keester, or forward into faceplants, and go tumbling down the mountain to your death.
I was an economist for Native American and Native Canadian tribes in western Canada and western USA, and stayed on the reserves and reservations in B.C., Alberta, Montana, Washington, Oregon. Wyoming, Colorado, California, Arizona, Nevada Minnesota, and Nebraska. I got in a LOT of skinny skiing on mountains with pristine (uncarved snow). I've always taken my skinny skis with me wherever I go, including Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Morocco. I even got to ski right next to my apartment building in Wadi es Sir, Jordan, when they had a freak 1.5 foot snowfall. The attendants at Amman Jordan Airport thought I was completely insane for bringing skis there. _________________ http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/9633/av5e.jpg |

my son studied in Beirut, Lebanon for a semester. on one morning he skied, and then later that day swam in the Mediterranean Sea. _________________

Hi guys, I'm a big Vikings fan. I'm really excited that we are playing so good this season because the NHL is on lockout so my beloved Red Wings can't play
I've been looking for a good forum to join with a ton of Vikings fans that actually know football. After reading some posts here, I was convinced this was the place. _________________
