Lions' CB Chris Houston believes Vikings player tried to take him out
Quote: | Houston sustained the injury in the fourth quarter during Minnesota running back Adrian Peterson's 61-yard touchdown run. An offensive player for the Vikings landed on Houston's ankle during that play, but Detroit's cornerback believes it was a deliberate attempt to injure him.
"Lineman just fell on my ankle on purpose," Houston said. "I went to cut him, and as he went down, he put both knees on my ankle on purpose. It's part of the game."
Houston said he was unsure which Vikings lineman it was, but was baffled by what occurred.
"I was on the ground, so I didn't get to see who it was, but as he pulled, I cut him, he was flying over the top of me, and you could feel him land on my ankle on purpose," Houston said. |
What do you guys think of these accusations? _________________

I would have to see it, but cutting a lineman and having him fall on you doesn't sound out of the ordinary. |

Even without AP scoring a TD the Vikes kinda had this one in the bag and taking out Houston at the end of the game seems kinda senseless unless the Vikes had a beef with him for something he did earlier.
I doubt they did it on purpose. |

Houston said it himself. "It's part of the game" Why he felt the need to comment on it or say he was "baffled" by it is beyond me. Puff up and get out on the field young man. _________________

I don't think it was on purpose. I think it just happened.
This comment made me laugh, though...

How do you feel someone do something on purpose? _________________

I wonder if Goodell will take that into account when doling out fines. Kind of like the American court system.
"Sir, you are charged with landing with intent, how do you plea?" _________________

I didn't see the play in question, so I can't say for certain. I did see Vikings player deliberately go at Calvins head on more than one occassion. So to claim the Vikings players were trying to injure our players wouldn't shock me. But again, I didn't see this play nor do I know if this is the case here. |

I thought he was getting hit in and around the head a little too often. I hope thats not the case though. Intentionally going for someone who stated they may have a concussion. |
