From 1987 through 1995 Jim Kelly and the Bills dominated the Marino-led Dolphins. Buffalo’s 17 wins during this span includes 3 playoff victories. It's these playoff wins that really pushes this to number 1.
From 1987 through 1997, the Bills won 18 of 21 against the Jets, including a winning streak of 10 straight. 1994 was a blemish, when New York swept Buffalo.
Despite the dismal 1970s there were a few bright spots, including a 9-0 streak against the Patriots. Interestingly enough despite Buffalo’s struggles against Miami, they were 16-2 against the rest of the AFC East from 1973 through 1975.
New England was not immune to Buffalo’s AFC domination of the early 1990s. The Bills went 11-2 against the Patriots from 1988 to 1994.
The Bills had a good run against the Jets during the AFL Championship years, winning 10 of 12 from 1962-1968.
1987-1993, against Indianapolis.
From 1967 through 1979 Miami posted a 23-1-1 record against the Bills, including a 20-0 sweep during the entire decade of the 1970s. In 1980 when the Bills beat the Dolphins to end the streak, fans stormed the field and tore down the goal posts… and it was only week one of the season!
Buffalo has not fared well against New England in recent years, going 2-22 since 2000, which includes 15 straight losses.
The Bills dropped 11 straight to the Patriots from 1983-1987.
1982-1986, against Miami.
5 & 6. 1-8
Against the Jets, twice. The first time was from 1983-1987. The second time is from 2008-Present, including a 0-6 current streak.
- For those who don’t know, Houston was in Buffalo’s division during the AFL Years. The Bills started out 2-6 against the Oilers, followed by 5-1, then finished 0-6.
- 4 out of Buffalo's 6 best streaks came while Jim Kelly was the quarterback. The Bills were 44-10 against the AFC East from 1987-1993.
- 3 out of Buffalo's 6 worst streaks came during 1982-1987. During this time the Bills were 9-31 against the AFC East. Two of the worst streaks are on-going. The Bills are 4-22 against the AFC East since 2008.
- Buffalo's best and worst streak were both against Miami.
