Good
1. Dawson seems week in week out the one constant good.
2. off. line Gave Weeden plenty of time usually and opened up holes for Richardson.
3. Trent running with authority. Well worth trading up for.
4. defense 2nd and 3rd quarters
5. Greg Little 5 catches
The bad
1. Haden gave up four passes including the decisive t.d.
2. defense 1st and 4th quarters.
3. MoMoss getting hurt again. Time to move on from him.
The ugly
1. Shurmur especially clock management and using time outs.
2. Weeden Had plenty of time and still passed to covered receivers when we had others open. Worse game he has had since opener. Some of his passes brought memories back of D. A.
3. Settling for field goals again. _________________ browns and indian fan 7272

I think you have pretty much nailed them all the same way I see it.
I think you could add a couple of the referee calls as bad as well.
I think you need a fourth category to describe Shurmur though, perhaps "Horrendous" would do. I have never been a fan of mid-season couching changes but if happened with him I would not be upset.
I think the fact that he keeps insisting he would do the same thing over and over the same way after they blow up in his face is pretty telling that he will not get any better. With a young team like the one we have a change in this case might be beneficial as perhaps Jauron or Childress would at least give them a chance to win a couple and build some confidence for next year. |

some more goods: Maiava actually showed up to play. big Phil's return was definitely noticeable in the 2nd half run defense. Brown played a good game.
bad: coaching, Weeden
ugly: roughing the passer call on Ward, illegal block call on Gordon. two very costly BS penalties. _________________

Good - Our team showed signs of being good for once and actually challenged a division rival instead of the lets just get our teeth kicked in game we usually play.
Bad - Mental mistakes on both the players and the coaching staff.
Ugly - Clock management, play calling on important downs, and coaching in general.
I want shurmur fired.
that is all

The Good:
O Line - Quickly becoming one of the best units in football. Need to keep the core 4 together for a long time. They will only improve.
T Rich - finally some consistency.
JMJ - missed some plays, but has shown up in his first two games of significant playing time.
Maiva - Quietly having a pretty good year. Is the only healthy LB on the team with the ability to effectively take on lead blockers.
Usama Young - Has been a vast improvement over Haag and his own previous efforts.
Defensive adjustments - - Jauron is great. Not mentioned often enough is defensive consitency. It takes success to start and the right situation, but keeping these units in tact is important. Jauron isn't going to be a head coach anywhere. I would LOVE to see him retained and be able to keep some of the same players in the same scheme.
Phil Taylor played!
The Bad:
Weeden - He was due for a bad game and he delivered in a fairly big way. I expect him to bounce back.
I formation and unnecessary play action.
Audibles on offense?
Tackling.
Joe Haden's ability to catch.
The Ugly:
Getting plays in and called. Not all on Shurmur. Weeden has never appeared swift in calling them and getting up to the line.
And subsequently, timeout management.
Weeden on third and short. His short accuracy is pretty atrocious. Especially in critical situations. _________________ There's always money in the banana stand |

I say the same thing I did in the GDT...
The bad- Brandon Weeden, first quarter Defense.
The good- Everyone else.
Did Shurmur make some questionable calls? yes. Should have had to make those calls? maybe, maybe not. Should they have worked? some of them for sure should have.
Weeden is the biggest culprit for this loss, and by a LARGE margin.
I know he's a rookie, but his play on Sunday was unacceptable. _________________ 2013 First Ballot Recipient of the Joe Blackburn Award |
