I would love for us to back up a Brinks truck to Nick Saban's house everyday until he agrees to come back to Cleveland and be the Head Coach. The guy is a master, and has really achieved everything in College Football. If he stays in college he will probably end up the greatest college coach ever. If he comes to Cleveland and wins a Superbowl or two and restores us to dignity; he will go down as the greatest COACH of all time.
I feel we could make a pretty easy transition to the 3-4 or potentially a hybrid style defense, particularly with where we will be drafting. We could draft Star Lotulelei to form the best 3 man front in football (Taylor, Rubin, Lotulelei); or we could draft Jarvis Jones and have a fearsome OLB duo in Sheard and Jones (then have a 3 man front of Taylor, Rubin, Winn).
Saban is familiar with Richardson, and knows how to get the best out of his QB. _________________

What about a guy like Rob Chudzinski as a potential option?
Other guys I would consider are Perry Fewell and Brad Seeley as I think both will end up being good Head Coaches.
I am not at all sure I would want Saban as I just am not sold on him as an NFL coach. I think he falls into the same category as many othe guys who are grood to great college coaches but struggle in the NFL. |

The same Nick Saban who quit on the NFL with the Dolphins? I'll pass.
However, I would be interested in at least interviewing Brian Billick. _________________

Good lord, why?
The most inconsistent coach I've ever seen, coasted on that elite defense while being a failure at building any kind of sustained offensive performance. No thank you. _________________

Every viable coaching candidate could get the "Good lord, why" response as all the great coaches have HC jobs or don't want the job.
But the reason I would be interested in AT LEAST INTERVIEWING Brian Billick is he's developed great leaders in the coaching ranks and was clearly doing something right. And I was told the sign of a great leader is how many leaders he helps create.
Mike Smith, Marvin Lewis, Rex Ryan, Mike Nolan, Jack Del Rio and Mike Singletary all served on his staff. Not saying all are great coaches, but many have held HC jobs for 5+ years.
I didn't even count David Shaw (HC at Stanford) & Rick Neuheisel (HC at UCLA)
Unlike Saban he's proven himself at the NFL level and hasn't quit on his team. And while the offense was inconsistent, I would argue this had more due to the QB play of Trent Dilfer, Kyle Boller, and Anthony Wright. _________________

That's actually a really good reason for at least bringing him in. I had not thought of that, great call. _________________

Perry Fewell. Eric Studesville as offensive coordinator. Keep Jauron as defensive coordinator. He and Fewell worked together in Buffalo, wouldn't be a bad pairing here. _________________

I think I am going to get destroyed with this canidate...
Rod Marinelli
Current DC and assistant head coach for the Chicago Bears. Also, former head coach of the Detroit Lions. His last year with them being the infamous 0-16 year. Love what he brings to the table as far as blitz design and aggressiveness. I am sure he has learned from being a previous head coach but how much.... _________________ Adopt A Brown

He's not doing that hot this year either.
As far as Mareneli goes, does anyone know how much of that 0-16 season was on the coach? As I recall, their talent that year was really terrible. _________________ "If you can't stand the neural activity, than stay out of the neural activator" -Professor Fink
