If Ken Whizenhunt is fired, Ray Horton will likely become the new HC. But that probably means Grimm and Miller are out of jobs as well. I like Juan Castillo for the oline and maybe Hue Jackson as the OC. Maybe Horton knows some coaches from his Pittsburgh days.

What are some options for OC and oline coach?

I know this thread is a bit premature

1 - The biggest thing about working together as a coaching staff is just that. Working together. From what I hear about Hue Jackson he can be very controlling and it ends up being his way or the highway. Players don't really enjoy playing for him and Head Coaches don't have his respect. Not sure he is a guy you want.

2 - Castillo is an interesting name, I do however come back to what has he really proven as an offensive line coach. The Eagles gave him all sorts of talent. He arrive in 1998 and progressed through to 2010 before being elevated. Over that period of time the Eagles in 13 seasons had a grand total of 1 All-Pro berth on that OL (Shawn Andrews in 2006)

Over that 13 year period the Eagles draft Tra Thomas, Jermane Mayberry, Shawn Andrews, Winston Justice and Max Jean-Gillies in the top 100 selections, three of those were first round selections and Justice was a very high second round pick.

The Eagles gave him plenty of talent to work with along the offensive line, it is not like he took scrubs and turned them into All-Pros.

Position coaches only really get bought up when a unit in particular is really struggling. With Arizona the offensive line has been a big hole for a while, but for me it comes back to this; We need to put some talent on the table for our offensive line coach to work with (Whomever that is) or we are going to continue to see the same results as we are right now.

3 - I would LOVE Norv Turner to come here as an offensive coordinator, but again it comes back to our front office putting talent on the table for our offensive line staff to work with.

Horton for HC

Townsed or Butler for DC

Or Shannahan (spelling) as HC, Horton as DC

something different.

As long as Miller is gone, i could care less.

You want to promote the assistant DB coach to DC? If anyone gets the promotion under Horton I would want it to be Cioffi, but the name I would really want (If he would come) is Rocky Seto from the Seahawks.

Also, you think Horton hangs around here to be the DC if we turn him down as the HC?

Even though I was being 100% sarcastic I will argue just for kicks. The NFL will double his salary. There you go...

He tested the waters last year but Tampa wasn't a great job. The Eagles have the best personel to suit his system. If that job opens he's the favorite in Philly, IMO.

Tampa offered him $6M per season last year and he turned that down. Not many NFL teams can afford to or will pay him $6M per season.

Over the next few years Chip will earn $3.5 million in guaranteed salary for 2012, $3.8 million for 2013 and $4 million for 2014 and 2015.

You think there are NFL teams who are willing to pay Chip $7M per season to be an assistant or even a head coach?

Currently there are two coaches league wide who make that much, Belichick and Shanahan.

I'ver dive more into this after the game but I know this, if we go defensive minded, it has to be a 3-4 guy.

Sean Payton is not under contract past 2012. I don't know what the odds are that the Saints move on from him, but it is possible that they can't agree on how much he is worth or they want to wipe their hands clean from Bountygate.

Issue with that is A] His success has come because he has a QB that can make all the passes and an offensive line that protects well and B] Does Horton hang around if we pass over him for HC?

Either way, there needs to be accountability. How many teams would keep their oline coach after consistently horrible results through their tenure?

How many teams blame their coaches when they are given zero talent at the position. It is not the fault of a single person.

Now if we had given Russ three first round picks and a second round pick maybe or three or four fourth rond picks then you can start to say, yeah this guy is not getting it out of the talent we have given him.

Not sure of any specific names but I want two things:

1. A coach who will continue forward with the 3-4 defense
2. A coach who will implement a set team philosophy
