I've got three books to read, first one up will be Catcher in the Rye, I never read it in High School. Better now then never. |
Hands down, my favorite book. _________________

I'm listening to the Mass Effect books (1&2) right now.
Can anybody suggest a good space opera?
Honor Harrington was good for about 3 books until it got too political.
I just listened to Stark's War and I found it a little bland and slow. |
I've heard nothing but good things about this. Gonna read it next myself if I ever get time to finish the book I'm on now. Dune is a good one too if you haven't already read those books. _________________

I'm trying to stay away from books like Dune because they end up being way too political. Honor Harrington ended up doing that by book 3 and I dropped the series because of too much behind the scenes talk and not enough action/actually doing something.
After Mass Effect 3 I'm going to change pace with something that caught my interest: The Painted Man (aka the Warded Man) book 1 of the Demon cycle. |

Been reading this myself for a little while now. Truthfully I'm not all that impressed. The book is certainly dense and intricate, but the writing itself I find shockingly pedestrian. _________________

I always liked The Will to Power, even though it technically wasn't an "official" Nietzsche work. |

I am currently on a break to decide whether I want to do graduate school or go for something like public relations at the college level, so aside from work I have some time on my hands.
I recently finished...
L'Étranger (Camus)
French Kiss (Hébert)
The Chess Machine (Lohr)
Catch-22 (Heller)
I am reading a few books at the moment (in order of expected completion)
Darkness at Noon (Koestler)
The Tipping Point (Gladwell)
Moby - (Melville)
UNHCR: The Politics and Practice of Refugee Protection (Betts, Loescher and Milner)
By mid-October, my reading list will consist of:
The Human Condition (Arendt)
Rant (my first Palahniuk book)
The Island Civilizations of Polynesia (Suggs)
Long-term commitments for my French improvement, hoping to finish before December:
Les Misérables (Hugo)
Les Artisans de la Paix (MacMillan) |
