I don't like Bray. Too many red flags. I don't know much at all about Thomas. |
Bray is about to be benched.
Murray is too small with questions about his mechanics and arm.
Thomas is a mess all over and not making progress.
If we go with a QB, Ryan Applin of Arkansas State is a Murray clone with a better arm and mechanics...but just as small. |
It benefits Bray to come out this year (see Landry Jones). He doesn't have to start right away.
I don't thin Murray declares this year.
Thomas is the same as Bray kind of. The coaching he is getting isn't gonna help him right now imo. _________________

Tyler Bray is a worse version of Blaine Gabbert without Gabbert's intangibles. _________________

That'd be part of the intangibles. _________________

As long as they accept my paperwork, I'll be an option in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Edit: Assuming I still plan to declare early. _________________

But I'll either be stuck as the COP when Weisman isn't hurt or I'll get hit by a bus or something. _________________

Interesting the way they're handling the injury situation. Makes me wonder how serious the tear is, and what that means for Gabbert's future here.
| Mr. V wrote: | | Thoughts on Zac Dysert and Tanner Price? |
What little i've seen of Dysert is interesting. Haven't seen much, but he seems to have some good tools and intangibles. Somewhere i heard or read something suggesting there's a bit of Aaron Rodgers to him, and i can kind of see it in some elements of his play. But he seems to have some issues with going through progressions and staring targets down though. Seems like an intriguing candidate for a later QB pick. But i haven't seen enough to really make up my mind there yet.
I still want nothing to do with Bray or Logan Thomas. Both disasters waiting to happen imo.
As i've indicated before though, i'm completely on board with the idea of trading down, picking up some much needed extra picks at the top of the draft, and rolling the dice on a QB later (unless one of Geno/Wilson/Barkley miraculously wins me over beyond a shadow of a doubt, which isn't looking likely).
I still like Landry Jones as my top candidate for a project/gamble QB. He's not a flawless QB prospect by any stretch, but there are plenty of things to like and he seems to have a good attitude. Fairly productive, though how much of that is system-related is debatable. Has a solid arm. I think the deep-ball questions are overblown. Definitely has the arm for it and he does make plenty of difficult throws, and seems to have issues with WR drops and/or not winning battles deep at times. The biggest concerns i see, are the inconsistent pocket mechanics and doesn't really take drops from under center, and that system doesn't really have him doing a whole lot of pre snap reads. But still might be worth a shot. I think he has more upside than people give him credit for.
Aaron Murray would be a solid candidate as well. The height thing is worth considering, but it's not as though a QB his size (or smaller) has never had success before. He has a lot of other good attributes outside of that though.
Obviously, talking about these 'imperfect' later QB prospects, there's going to be a lot of subjectivity and personal preference to it though. So it's easy to see how everyone is going to have widely varying opinions on it. I just hope whoever is at the helm as GM of this team come draft day is the sort of guy who has "good" opinions on it. |

Dysert - NFL frame (6'3 230) with strong legs and core...strong NFL ready arm and makes quick decisions...He has no NFL talent around him, but makes his team better...quick processor, sure thrower, and will read progressions well, rarely will lock on or read pre-snap (something Blaine does consistently)...not an athlete, but moves well in the pocket and doesn't panic nor rush (stands tall)...completion precentage isn't there, as his receivers drop nearly 5-10 passes a game.
If you want to see how he will look in the NFL, put on the Ohio State game and watch him move and throw with a muddy pocket and Buckeyes all over his back, legs, and knees.
edit, he is currently 4th on my QB list (Smith, Wilson, Barkley, Dysert) _________________

Check out Tanner Price and tell me what you guys think of him. I think he's an underrated prospect whose stock could rocket. _________________

From what i've seen of Dysert, the arm is what really stood out to me immediately. Lots of power and looks like a good release. I don't really agree on progressions and not staring down receivers thing though, but again, i'm just going by what i've seen. I definitely intend to look into him more. There's some real nice things there. |
