Rodger Godell was PT's right hand man and was hand picked by the former commish as his successor. He pushed the owners to make the hire of Godell.
There is no way PT will rule aganist his protege and close friend!
Status quo remains the same...

I honestly hope they keep the suspensions. Vilma won't be much of a help this year and we'd be a better defense without Will Smith.

Honestly Harper41... we've discussed alot about waht we think this team should do moving fwd but in reality I think Vilma, Smith, Shanle, Greer & Harper all get restructured contracts in the offseason. Then the front office targets quality veterans willing to take a lil less in order to make a super bowl run.
How bout this...
Saints sign DE Dwight Freeny, CB Sam Shields & OT Andre Smith in free agency. Restructure the above players, resign Bushrod & Henderson.
Draft Barrett Jones in round one,
Have a 2013 starting roster like this...
LDE - Will Smith (Moved over from right side)
DT - Cameron Jordan (Jordan kicks inside due to great run defense and better interior pass rusher)
NT - Brodrick Bunkley (run stuffer will be pushed hard by Hicks)
RDE - Dwight Freeny (pass rusher still has 2-3 quality years left)
SLB - David Hawthore
MLB - Curtis Lofton
WLB - Jon Vilma (converts for good of the team and comes back with chip on shoulder)
CB - P-Rob
SS - Roman Harper
FS - Malcolm Jenkins
CB - Sam Shields (quality young corner to pair with P-Rob)
Nickel CB - Jabari Greer
QB - Drew Brees
FB - Jed Collins
HB - Thomas, Sproles, Ingram (3 headed monster)
TE - Jimmy Graham
WR - Colston
WR - Henderson
WR - Moore
LT - Jermon Bushrod
LG - Benn Grubs
OC - Barrett Jones (BDLP is a servicable starter but Jones will be an all pro)
RG - Jahari Evans
RT - Andre Smith (Saints sign Smith to stablize right side and get more physical in run game)

I like the final outcome but I would be LIVID if we drafted a center in the first round. That isn't even a need, we need to replace Will Smith. He's useless.

Honestly... I think on a restructured deal and a switch to the left side, I think Will Smith could have a couple solid seasons left. Combine the fact that Freeny would be on the oppsite side of him with Jordan and Hicks taking advantage of guards on the inside!
Would be a much improved pass rush with depth in Galette and Wilson. Still draft another pass rusher tho, maybe LSU's Lavar Edwards in the 3rd. Also, word Im hearing is that dispite 2 injury plauged seasons, the saints are still high on Romeus and want to see if he can come back next season.
De La Peunte is servicable but he does get man handled often! Jones would give us a pro-bowl center and one of the best interior lines in the leauge with Evans and Grubbs. Aslo Andre Smith is a mauler in the run game and this combination of offensive line could really get Mark Ingram & Peirre Thomas going next season.

Since we're being kinda unrealistic, i want the Saints to trade for Mike Wallace or DeSean Jackson, then cut all of our TE's except for Graham, sign a couple good back-up OL and convert them to "heavy set" TE's. Our power run formations would be unstoppable. Then every once in a while, with people crowding the LOS, we throw in Wallace or Jackson and run a PA pass and score a TD every time. Sound good? Good.
