Isn't the idea that if we bring someone else in for Rivera he will automatically be better a faith based argument?

There is no guarantee they will be better.

While I agree the front office shouldn't give up on Rivera yet or anything like that. Rapid coaching change is bad for a team. However, you can't look at it like that. There is never any guarantees in the NFL but you have to take chances. Rivera has been plagued with time management issues, team seemingly collapsing every second half (which screams poor halftime adjustments, same issue Fox had), and this year in 3 games we have came out completely flat to begin. Our team also doesn't seem to be all that disciplined. So I think it is fair that people are skeptical of him.

Again, don't think he should be fired. The team hasn't gotten that bad yet and is still competitive week to week. But I hope to see growth out of him. Maybe my opinion has been skewed seeing all of these bad teams manage to improve quickly because of great hires at head coach.

And this isn't me just blaming the coach for everything wrong with the team. I agree we're just not that talented, at least defensively (I have no idea what is up with us offensively outside of the fact Chud calls verts every pass play, never goes under center, Newton inconsistent, O-Line just bad, etc). I actually think Sean McDermott is a good defensive coordinator - our players are in position, they just can't tackle or backpedal way too early. My issues with Rivera go with the things he can control.

Oh yeah I know man, my point is to him that they either have faith in Rivera or his replacement for the betterment of this team. There is no guarantee whether we were to stick with Rivera or seek his replacement right now, we would get better. I also am in the keep Rivera Bandwagon, as I feel our woes are the cumulation of things. Just hoping he learns from all these experiences.

That's kinda where I am at. He's a newer HC on a young team. We need to determine what issues are his and what issues are in execution. And then we need to see if/how he responds. Can he correct the execution? Can he correct his own mistakes? Can he learn? Can he teach? Is he hopeless? Is he promising. There are a ton of questions. And the jury is out on just about all of them. I dont think anyone really has an answer at this point. They might think they do. But they really dont. That's why you take your time and act rationally.

And now he's officially locked in my dog house.

Even though we CLEARLY got robbed by the referees, I've never seen a team collapse and come out flatter in the second half than we do. We have no halftime adjustments. That goes back to the head coach.

Or, more importantly, the offensive coordinator, because the kind of plays Chud calls is absolutely appalling. Pass frenzy in goal line when you have Tolbert, Cam, Williams, Stew? Zone read option on 3rd and 1?!

Rivera deserves opportunities and I'm not calling for his head yet. But he's getting close. I've never seen a team collapse in the second half and look as lackluster in the second half than we have in the 1 year and a half he's been coach.

What has happened to Chud? Did he let all the hype get to him with the head coach interviews? Get back to the basics buddy!

The key has now been sent to the graveyard.

I was going to say "he has officially been locked in the doghouse" but I said that 2, 3 weeks ago. Appalling that he's actually managed to get worse since. How do you not stop the same play? That 2 minute drill was too easy.

The new question is: can Rivera save his job with the remainder of the year?

I don't think he should be able to win it. We know what he can do. With Rivera, they're 1-10 in games decided by a TD or less.

I also don't like judging teams when they have nothing to lose. Playing well when everything is at stake is what separates the good teams.

I think this team can turn it around with better guidance. The worst part of the job is probably the salaries.
