Was one of the best tackles of his generations, should be in the hall already, especially given the gambling issue proved no obstacle for Hornung. _________________

I can't even imagine the feeling knowing that you were going to die after finding out your kidney failed. Hopefully he had a great last couple of hours with his loved ones.
RIP. |

Here's the choice Alex Karras quote that doesn't involve 'Mongo':
| Quote: | | It takes more courage to reveal insecurities than to hide them, more strength to relate to people than to dominate them, more 'manhood' to abide by thought-out principles rather than blind reflex. Toughness is in the soul and spirit, not in muscles and an immature mind. |

The Mad Duck is one of the best to ever grace the gridiron. Some would say he is among the three best players to ever suit up for the Detroit Lions Franchise.
He talked candidly about the sport and his openness irked some of those in positions of power. He is a sure fire Hall of Famer that has been left out because of perephial issues.

when the NFL field goal distance record of 63 yards was first set by Tom Dempsey of the New Orleans Saints, it was against Karras and the Lions. no one had EVER made a field goal of that kind of distance before, so the Lions didn't even rush. Karras' comment afterward was...
"I've lined up plenty of times on the 37 yard line to rush a field goal attempt, but they were always pointed the other way." _________________

Way before my time.
R.I.P Alex.
The only thing I really know him for is that clip of him singing that rediculous fight song from the Lou Holtz year on MNF. But from what the Old-Timers are saying he was an animal and stud on the field. _________________
