I agree with you Nic. Something to add is Daboll is going to kill Charles. He ran the ball 30 times. That is the second time has had over 30 carries this year and has 102 carries. On pace for 326 carries. Would of been more but the Buffalo game he only had 6 carries.

Am I the only one worried about this? Running backs don't have that long of a shelf life and he isn't the biggest back either.

I think he can handle carries in the 300-325 range. It will help getting Hillis back, of course. Hillis and Draughn are a much better backup duo than Draughn and Gray. I don't think they really want Gray out there much yet. But the nice thing about Charles, as opposed to when we completely tore down Johnson, is he's more in the Holmes style of not really getting hit head on too often. He's small and shifty, so he gets a lot of glancing blows and plays where he just gets tripped up more than tackled. Better than a power back like LJ, where 300+ carries meant a good 250+ head on tackles.

Yeah but the thing is, with his frame even if he does take fewer direct hits, those fewer hits could make an impact - especially considering he is still recovering from his injury. I think Daboll would have liked to have had Hillis, but who knows when he is going to play again. Unfortunately that signing doesn't seem to be panning out and I don't know how serious his injury is but he never has seemed to be the type of player to jump back into the action atleast in the NFL.

A pretty big change from Williamson saying last week the the Chiefs need to stick with Cassel as long as he is uninjured.

Not sure where to put this as a gameday thread hasn't been created yet by Rumless or RVM.

Quote:
Itís looking more likely that Brady Quinn will start at quarterback for the Chiefs this weekend.

Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star reports that Matt Cassel has not yet been cleared to return to action after suffering a concussion in last Sundayís 9-6 loss to the Ravens. Until Cassel has been cleared by an independent neurologist, he will not be permitted to take part in any Chiefs practices or games.

Obviously Cassel wonít be practicing on Wednesday without that clearance, which leaves Quinn to take the starter reps as the team gets to work in advance of this weekendís game against the Buccaneers.

Coach Romeo Crennel hasnít formally ruled Cassel out of the game, although we imagine that will come at some point in the next couple of days. Since weíre talking about Cassel and Quinn, itís not like the Chiefs have much to gain from keeping the Bucs guessing about which quarterback is going to start the game. And, since weíre talking about Cassel, the Chiefs donít really have much reason not to see what Quinn can do with the offense.
