I don't think the idea of overpaying for a guy would be problematic long term for us. We have a ton of cap space, and the place that teams throw money at, QB, is going to be on a very modest rookie contract for 4 years in this scenario. That allow you to overspend on a 4-5 year deal for a free agent without being in any sort of bad position going forward. This team also doesn't have the type of players on it currently that are going to command the big contracts going forward, so the 20 million we have free is generally going to stay free going forward.
I also wouldn't worry about why a guy would sign here. Last year's prize WR was Vincent Jackson, who is very similar to Wallace in productivity. Obviously he's older, and that plays into his decision and ehat teams will give him, but still, he signed in Tampa Bay to play with Josh Freeman. Most of the teams who already have "good quarterbacks" aren't going to be looking for a WR or have the cap space to go after Wallace, so we would be on a pretty level playing field with the rest of the teams in contention, similar to how the Redskins were able to draw in Free Agent WRs last offseason.
Obviously the situation is highly hypothetical, as we don't know what's going to happen with Wallace an his chances of leaving, but if he does leave, I don't see any reason why this team won't be able to land him (or Greg Jennings) if they make it a priority to do so. _________________

Mel Tucker - Head Coaching Job
Terry McD - Becomes lead person elsewhere (which is rumored to happen)
Fire Gene Smith.
Bring in Pittsburgh's Director of Player Personel to become GM.
Hire Bill Cowher.
Run 34 (actually have great pieces)
Draft Geno Smith (we wont, why? Because Jaguars)
Get the last edge rusher to play opposite Branch.
Win?

Let's hire Chip Kelly has the head coach and Eric DeCosta as GM and call it a day. _________________

That's certainly intriguing. We'd probably need a true NT though. _________________

Thats not Knighton regardless, but I agree, which, is actually good, there are more and more coming out every year, now that more College teams are adopting it. _________________

Just hope Gabbert either keeps doing what he's doing so we can draft Geno or improves a ton so that we know he is the future (not gonna happen).
Top choice for gm would be Decosta but, unless Khan works some magic we won't get him. So the next chocie would be Marc Ross of the Giants. _________________

Would like Chip, but DeCosta just got paid an undisclosed amount for a raise just to sit and wait for Ozzie to retire. (promoted to AGM) _________________

Haha, it's a dream scenario that won't happen. I don't know what others think of Kelly, but I feel like his practice would be something like what Philbin is doing in Miami pace wise. _________________

He's still doing the radio shows and stuff. He's probably just busy scouting games. _________________

Probably not going to happen, as Mike Wallace died back in April. He was ninety-three years old! He was more of a television journalist, but it's true he did play halfback in the single-wing back in high school. I saw a picture of him wearing a leather helmet. |
