Every time Vick has the ball in his hands, which is every offensive play, I get a little too nervous. It's crazy how much more careful McNabb was with the football, even though he had his obvious limitations as well. |

You joke but I remember a vast majority in this forum whinning about just that. Mcnabb was smart enough not to force things to live another day and was crucified constantly for it for "not trusting his WR to make a play and being inaccurate". Vicks the polar opposite. Have to live with the consequences for that mentality. It's not like we have Megatron, Fitz, or AJ to just chuck the ball up to and prey. |
I never whined about McNabb, He did the smart thing. Either the receiver catches it, or no one does - it's smart play, like sliding. |
Never said or pointed to You specifically marky. It's only now that we have numerous TO's every game groundhog day can be appreciated for what it was, that's all. A QB who would rather throw a ball 3 ft short into the ground then prey his reciever's would make the play in a tight window.

As smart as McNabb's decisions was with the Worm burners, he wasn't exactly Captain Comeback. That doesn't all fall on him, given the skill position players he had early on his career.

That was more a statement than a defense from me. I liked McNabb and his slightly too jovial ways.

But perhaps Vick is only given the chance to comeback since he is putting us in the position to lose the game originally???

Partial truth, but would McNabb have gone on 3 winning drives this season? Probably not, he probably wouldn't have had to. But this goes back to, Vick have shown he can be clutch this year when it's need.

But then he comes back and puts us in a position to win. If we're going to decry him for his fumbles we can't ignore his 4th quarter heroics, either.

There are 10 other guys on the field when he made those comebacks. He alone has 11 of the 13 team turn overs this year.

Just some comments I wanted to make, and since the post-game thread is locked I'll just put them in here:
-Vick's fumbles are obviously an issue and probably cost us this game, but the good news is that he has looked much better throwing the ball since the Giants game, and has surprisingly fared well against the blitz. Completion wise, he was 11 for 15 against the blitz on Sunday. Keep in mind he was also sacked on 2 of those completions. Hopefully this trend continues. Fumbles thankfully are correctable.
-PFF was not very kind to our linebackers for their performances over the weekend. As most of us noted, Kendricks really struggled on Sunday with both tackles and in coverage. His solid play in the beginning of the season has quickly faded over the past several games, but we have to remember that he's still just a rookie. His stat-line had him missing 5 tackles and he allowed 4 catches on 5 targets in coverage. He also struggled against the run.
-Chaney also struggled against the run, receiving a -4 grade from PFF. I noticed he was struggling to shed blockers, and the Steelers' interior guards really had a field day against our linebackers. They have big guards that aren't good pass protectors, as we saw with their constant holding, but they're big and stout against the run. Notably Colon and Pouncey.
-Nnamdi allowed 6 catches on 8 targets over the weekend, but for a measly 45 yards as mentioned in the Scrabble watch thread. Not his best game, but Big Ben really gave our defense fits with his 3 step drop and throws. Brown also isn't a good matchup for Nnamdi given the former's speed and agility. Tackling-wise, he was sound, which was an issue for him last year. I'm eager to see him go at it against Megatron.
-DRC received a negative grade from PFF, which seems kind of harsh. He had several PD and allowed just 2 catches on 6 targets while shadowing Wallace throughout the day. Sure, he missed a couple of interceptions, but I thought he played tremendous.
-Juan has to find a way to negate the chip blocking and QB's stepping up in the pocket. Whether that means sending more guys to blitz or not is his call, but it's time for some adjustments because right now the line isn't getting enough pressure. That said, props to Big Ben for playing a solid game.
-Boykin allowed 5 catches on 6 targets. He's been exposed these past 3 games.
-Graham was really the only disruptive end as he totaled 2 hurries.

5 lost fumbles, numerous picks into double and triple coverage. Not the other players' fault IMO.
